Very few posts allow immediate resignation, most, including the most menial, require a period of notice to be served and last day of working mutually agreed. I very much doubt that the post of "manager" (I use the word loosely) of England is any different.
Thats if you give notice of employment. he was resigning with immediate effect.

I didn't think he was, I thought he was just confirming that he wouldn't be renewing his contract. His contract was until the end of the tournament so I'm assuming it would have an actual date set (i.e. after the last match of the tournament) as opposed to a flexible "whenever England get booted out" date. So I'm probably wrong but I assume he is, technically, still contracted until the middle of July. Not that it matters a fuck like, I'm sure they wouldn't gross misconduct someone who was leaving anyway, would be utterly pointless

I think it was a bit of a shame, he obviously didn't look up for it and was obviously hurting. The only thing I'd have liked to know is why this supposedly safe, experienced manager suddenly went f***ing mad.

He knows you need a formation with players to suit it but his squad selection looked like we were going with a diamond which we then never played. He knew we had taken no width but still stuck players wide. He knew Wilshere wasn't fit but, even when it wss painfully obvious he wasn't playing his way into the tournament as hoped, he didn't try the obvious replacement in Barkley. When it obviously wasn't working against Iceland why wait so long to bring Rashford on, he was never going to do it with 5 minutes on the pitch. The obvious one of why make so many changes against Slovakia, why have Kane on set pieces even when his delivery was consistently shit.

I hate it when a manager makes sensible suggestions and then people criticise him with the benefit of hindsight but all of the above are things which everyone knew at the time were mistakes. For example I won't criticise taking Wilshere, he's a talented player and, if he could have got him fit and he played himself into his best form, he'd have been an asset. The mistake is that we all knew it wasn't working, he had Barkley, and he didn't even give the lad a minute on the pitch. We needed something different, he is hit and miss but can offer it. Of all the managers we've had in recent times I thought he could be relied upon to at least get the very basics right, it's baffling that, even accepting the fact we know he's not a top class manager, he somehow managed to make so many mistakes
I couldn't agree more with the mistakes, substitutions, or lack of them and other baffling decisions, it's almost like he did it on purpose because there doesn't seem to be any other rational reasoning for some of the choices he made. Unless, as you say he actually did go mad.

I took it as he was gone, there and then.
 Who gives a fuck anyway?

I'm guessing he'll have had a notice period because I think you have to give one in pretty much any contract, and I assume the finish date would be July 12th or something but as you say who gives a fuck
