Ah that's ok then. Just walk away Roy, it's fine.
Don't bother telling us what your tactics were supposed to be, or your team selection etc. Don't bother explaining the utter turd you've served up for months now, or your preference for players who play for so called big clubs who although clearly ain't fit or are outta form you pick religiously.
Just fuck it up then walk away, rich and utterly blameless

Spot on, we were due an explanation.

You've basically just made stuff up there.
Which bits have I made up?
  • He's made > £14m over the last 4 years.
  • 30th June (payday) is the day after tomorrow.
  • I assume he wants his last payment
  • If he didn't do what the FA, his employer, reasonably requested him to do, ie appear in front of the press, they would have a case for gross misconduct.

Not sure what I made up, tbh.

He had no chance poor fucker. Coward when it looked like he wasn't turning up, coward when he did. He's done a horrendous job, he's just inept not a coward.

Especially when it's anonymous 'men' on an Internet forum calling an old boy spineless & a coward.

You couldn't make it up man

Don't know why you seem so interested in what he had to say,as you have clearly made your mind up about him anyway.

Let them have their pound of flesh mate. Mebbe a good kicking for the old man while he's down might help get him to force the fantastic players to produce what they're capable of.

Whether they were tired, out of form, couldn't be arsed or just being bastards we will never know but they deserve the collective hiding more than old man Roy.

Yes he might not have picked the best possible team but the ones he did pick were a f***ing shambles.

exactly this ,yes Hodgson failed, but the performance of them players last night was nothing short of a disgrace, could not even trap a ball or pass it 10 yards shocking!

He's a spineless coward man.

The brave green berets of Pure Football said so.

I for one felt really sorry for him. Standing in front of the world's media admitting (and looking like) we was in a really fragile state.

The FA should have never dragged him out there IMO. What good was to come from it? Absolutely none. We played shit and got beat. End of story.

Terrible how the players limp away on a private jet back to their summer holidays and straight into pre season while he's hung out to dry. Ffs he was a terrible appointment in the first place and we're shocked it's ended in tears?

The FA are starting to remind me more and more of FIFA. Accountable to no one, jobs for the boys and fat salaries for all.

He resigned from the job yesterday. You're making stuff up

He is, I'll be honest I was having a chuckle to start with but I really felt genuinely sorry for him at the end
Best paid manager at the Euros.
Three wins in all of his tournaments.
Unable to manage a team against even weak opposition.
Boring unimaginative matches.

I hope you will not mind if I cannot join you in your sorrow.

No that's fine and I know he's been shit, don't get me wrong, just seeing him sitting there, what can I say I'm a big old softie

Very few posts allow immediate resignation, most, including the most menial, require a period of notice to be served and last day of working mutually agreed. I very much doubt that the post of "manager" (I use the word loosely) of England is any different.

He went on like an absolute **** at the presser yesterday imo. Having said that its done now and he's said all he's going to say so leave him be now and no need for further witch hunts.

I think it was a bit of a shame, he obviously didn't look up for it and was obviously hurting. The only thing I'd have liked to know is why this supposedly safe, experienced manager suddenly went f***ing mad.

He knows you need a formation with players to suit it but his squad selection looked like we were going with a diamond which we then never played. He knew we had taken no width but still stuck players wide. He knew Wilshere wasn't fit but, even when it wss painfully obvious he wasn't playing his way into the tournament as hoped, he didn't try the obvious replacement in Barkley. When it obviously wasn't working against Iceland why wait so long to bring Rashford on, he was never going to do it with 5 minutes on the pitch. The obvious one of why make so many changes against Slovakia, why have Kane on set pieces even when his delivery was consistently shit.

I hate it when a manager makes sensible suggestions and then people criticise him with the benefit of hindsight but all of the above are things which everyone knew at the time were mistakes. For example I won't criticise taking Wilshere, he's a talented player and, if he could have got him fit and he played himself into his best form, he'd have been an asset. The mistake is that we all knew it wasn't working, he had Barkley, and he didn't even give the lad a minute on the pitch. We needed something different, he is hit and miss but can offer it. Of all the managers we've had in recent times I thought he could be relied upon to at least get the very basics right, it's baffling that, even accepting the fact we know he's not a top class manager, he somehow managed to make so many mistakes
