That’s me fucked. Got trains booked as well for 5 of us, but only 2 of us had high points so being the good mates we are we waited to see if it would come down (of course knowing the risk it wouldn’t).

Anyone know if Trainline are likely to be sympathetic and let us get a refund? To be honest I’m going to look to rearrange them for Sheff Wed away, but not all 5 of the group might be able to make that with it being midweek.
You can always go to Sheffield United v Blackpool

You can’t refund if your tickets are advanced singles set for specified times, otherwise you can, through the app, but they take a £10 admin fee for each refund
All train tickets including advance singles can be refunded in way of rail vouchers (valid for 12 months) under the scheme in place until 31/12/21. I’ve used this loads of times already this season. For example I’d booked train tickets for Fleetwood at normal price then Northern had their sale on so I bought the tickets on the sale and cancelled the other advance singles and got the vouchers, did the same for Lincoln the other week when LNER had their sale on. Need to surrender the tickets not later than 6pm the day before travel and there’s no admin fee.

It is slightly frustrating like. I do find it frustrating that being a season ticket holder from outside the area I'm beaten to certain away games by branches from outside of the area for people who don't have season tickets. But it is what it is, and I should probably stop being slightly bitter! Ha
It actually ceases to be loyalty points. Remain bitter till something is done about it. I'm not being bitter as I got one. Yeah. Someone drops out sell your ticket on but abusing the points system is unacceptable.

It's a pity that the refund scheme is due to end in December...given the current direction that Cov-19 cases are going and talk of restrictions being (possibly) re-introduced)...Although TBF all the rail companies did refund tickets when closed door games were played in the latter part of 2019/20 season...

Dear MP,

Thank you for your email. I have been in touch with our Licensing Team, and with the Chair of the Rotherham United Football Club Safety Advisory Group and South Yorkshire Police to clarify the position.

I can confirm that there is no blanket restriction on licensed premises permitting entry to home or away supporters on match days that has been implemented by the licensing service and there are no premises with this as a condition on the premises licence. The Council does however add a condition onto premises licences in our ‘high risk’ town centre premises that requires the premises licence holder to risk assess the requirement for door supervision or to increase in door supervision on specific match days.

I understand that, as part of a routine enquiry to South Yorkshire Police, they advised as per the above and not that there was a blanket ban on away supporters. It may however therefore be that some premises do not allow entry to away supporters due to the risks that may present. That is in line with the position across South Yorkshire (and across the Country). It is not the Council’s decision as to whether individual pubs do or do not accommodate away supporters on match days and the Council does not therefore maintain a list of such venues. That decision is solely for the premises and in line with their own risk assessment.

The Council obviously liaises closely with the Police, through our Licensing Service and the Safety Advisory Group. We are aware that South Yorkshire Police licensing do, as part of the planning for high risk fixtures, liaise with licensed premises in the town centre to seek to identify which premises may be willing to accommodate away supporters. South Yorkshire Police Licensing are in the process of undertaking this exercise and will endeavour to share this list with supporters groups prior to match day.

I hope that this helps to clarify the position.

Kind regards
Cllr Chris Read
Leader of the Council

Worth bumping the above for anyone gasping for a beverage on Saturday lunchtime.

I intend to be in the vicinity, having a lager and asking around for anyone who's mate hasn't turned up and have been left with a spare seat in the away end... so I can buy them a beer.
