Rotator cuff injury

I've been having private treatment on mine for the past 3 months and it isn't getting any better.

My guy reckons it's a tear so I've been referred to a specialist now.

Been giving me bother for over a year.

My right shoulder is really sore, especially when I push away, especially upwards, shoulder pressing say. Been like this about a month.

Never sought medical opinion, but I reckon I done mine about 3 year ago, ever present pain in me left shoulder. Never seems to improve or get worse, does me heed in. Still train with it. I say train..

Mine went when bench pressing a few years back. Took me a year or so before I eventually got a scan which showed I had torn a tendon in my shoulder.

Wish I had found that out sooner as I paid for private therapy and was rehabbing it which probably made it worse.

I've got twinges in both shoulders, I don't bench any more- I do high rep sets of pressups and dips for chest and only light overhead press for shoulder movements. I blame it on years of hammering chest exercises a couple of times a week. Even so, they still grumble a lot of the time, you just have to find other exercises you can do instead that don't aggravate it 🤷‍♀️

Pull-ups will aggravate a pain in my left shoulder so I have knocked them on the head.

I use lighter reps and/or paused reps on bench press and find that the angle is better on inclined bench press.

For overhead press my shoulder mobility is hopeless - my elbows seem to be in the wrong position which causes my back to arch to compensate. I’ve been using a seated machine to build back some strength until I can do OP properly. It isn’t perfect but it’s better than knacking something.

I’m terrible for overhead mobility too, I’m blaming years of desk work!

Yes I have worked at a desk since 1991 with occasional rest breaks.

I sussed after 4 years of trying overhead press that when I start with the bar across the top of my chest that my forearms aren’t perpendicular and the elbows aren’t forward enough.

I have tried exercises like wall slides to improve my posture and shoulder mobility but I haven’t done them regularly enough.

Banded front racks are quite good for me but it’s mainly thoracic spine mobility that’s my issue. If I’m overhead pressing of doing Olympic lifts they lag behind other lifts like the dead and the squat..... it’s all a puzzle I’ll never solve

Anyone had a rotator cuff operation?

Just interested in how the recovery was really. How long, how restrictive, how successful?
