Ross Stewart

As I said on other thread if I was him I’d be sacking the agent. On a relatively poor contract and long term injury when he could have been paid a hell of a lot more.

The club and Stewart need to come to some agreement as in a contract extension with a decent pay rise and if he fully recovers and we aren’t in the premier league next summer the club would be sensible with him if a decent offer comes in from a premier league club which would set him up for life.

Totally agree mate. Even if we just offered him £15-20k a week, he would picked up hundreds of thousands more whilst being injured.

Sadly he will know that this coming season could make him or break him. If his season is disrupted with injury again, a lot of clubs will be very wary to sign him.

As you say, his agent has made a mess of it.

Allegedly the agent is the main sticking point in all this. He will quite probably see it as his own personal big pay day too and that’s the farcical thing about most agents-half of them couldn’t kick a football in anger and just see their clients as personal cash cows.

Many players and managers now no longer use ‘agents’ and just use a competent lawyer who charges a set fee for services rendered. It’s not unfair to say many (not all) agents are leeches whose personal self interest far outweighs that of their client.

The biggest thing in all this is the question “Will he return as fit as he was prior to these two very serious injuries?”. That will determine the worth of any contract SAFC or any other club may offer him.

He’s going to miss the start of the season and some have suggested it could even be October by the time he’s fit enough to play first team football as there’s no way he can be rushed back-he’ll be wrapped in cotton wool initially.

A proven central striker who can start against Ipswich is an absolute must. We just cannot afford a repeat of last season where we often played with no recognised forward or relied on an unproven youngster who generally wasn’t good enough in the role he had to play.

It’s two years since we paid money for a forward. This needs to change imminently.

Staggering what his agent has done here, he could have accepted extra money but inserted a clause saying any bid over £xmillion pounds and he can go and talk to them, but he has just went for the hard game and really fucked it up

At the end of the day it's the player who'll decide if he wants to stay or not.

Agents (Parasites) are there to guide and advise and get the best outcome for the player (and themselves) but the player will ultimately decide.

I think he's a topper player and my favourite striker since Quinny/SKP (never took to Bent/Gyan etc), but I will be very surprised if he's here in January.

He'd have committed his future to the club already if he wanted to be here long term.

This.

I see his agent is getting all the pelters deflected toward him. Isn’t it funny how if we hate a player, it’s all them. If we like them, it’s the agent.
Who said this is the agents doing though?
It's Stewart who has the final word on this no matter what.
Could be he just wants away when fit and has already been tapped up.

Tbf, it’s his agent that will be doing the negotiating. The reality is, he was pushing for a wage that we simply wouldn’t pay but he knew he could get elsewhere.

Steward has now been paid significantly under market value for a year and could quite possibly be looking at another year of it.

If the lad has another injury ruined season then he will struggle to find a club willing to offer the £15-20k a week (for 2-3 years) which we did - even on a free transfer

No mate. Most agents are a scourge on the game. They take multi millions out for themselves for little other reason that they represent someone talented for very little hard work.

In most cases they aren’t needed and should be far more tightly regulated. All the majority of players need is a good solicitor/lawyer.

People should also remember that Mowbray has been quoted in the public arena as saying Stewart’s agent “thinks he’s negotiating for Mpabbe” (which I thought was antagonistic and shouldn’t have been said in the media but suggested the agent is playing a huge part in all this!).
