Ross Stewart

It's frightening how many people don't seem bothered if he leaves, alreet if hes holding the club to ransom fair enough,
But we already have the perfect striker for this league in Stewart,id rather keep him personally.
everyone would rather keep him. i think most are just tiring of this - 12 months this has been rumbling on

People saying he only has a year left … don’t we have an option to trigger another year so effectively we’ve got him for two years?

Ross Stewart is 27. Not exactly some up and coming 18/19 year old. At the end of the day Wyke left us for the money and got relegated. Stoke might well give Stewart more money but he’ll be playing alongside absolute cloggers and will achieve precisely fuck all.

Wyke left us and got promoted first. He was 29 and shit.

Ross Stewart is still 26 and he's ten times the footballer Wyke was, is intelligent, quicker, better in the air- there's potential to step up that Wyke never had so I'm not entirely sure what your point is/was.
He was worth more to someone but I doubt that he is now.

He'll still easily get more now, but obviously that will be limited to clubs maybe at Championship level chucking him a couple of years when his contract expires or clubs like Stoke hoping to get him for next to no fee.

Hes injured thats all. clubs will still want him.
If he doesn’t get sold for a nominal fee then he will sign a pre contract in jan for hearts or hibs

What a tiresome idiot. I forgot what an actual fuckwit you are so gave a reasonable response at first.

Who would take him with his current injury via a medical and insurance?
Clearly he’s turned down a deal and hopes for more or a move which I fair enough, it’s his last decent contract maybe.
So long as he understand we have to move on without him and he will be isolated from the team.
That said I hope he stays he’s quality all over the pitch.

He's not actually injured. He'll be doing rehab so whether he could pass a medical depends on how rigorous said medical is. Given Speakman said he'd likely be fit for the middle or end of preseason it means he's probably 3 or 4 weeks away from playing so can't be that far off.

He won't be far off. The figures talked about on here were always pie in the sky snd now he only has 12 months left and a bad injury.

£6m would probably be about what we'd get if we sold now. I wouldn't be surprised if we did sell for that tbh as he's going for free as it stands.
I agree, but the poster claimed he wasn't even worth that, which is incorrect.

He was, aye. Whether he’s still as good after this Achilles injury is the question.

The thing with that is that most agents couldn’t give a shit about their clients career really, it’s all about money to them.

If Stoke were offering 10k a week more than Man City for example, the agent will push for Stewart to sign for Stoke.

You’ll get some agents wanting to do the right thing for the clients career, but they’ll usually be related to the player (Bellingham agent is his dad, and Roberts agent is his brother).
Bellinghams Dad is the perfect example of looking after your clients properly.
The way he has thought about both of their professional developement over instant money, is a lesson a huge amount of agents should learn.
And they are both now reaping the rewards, still at a young age.
Great stewardship of their individual careers that.
I agree, but the poster claimed he wasn't even worth that, which is incorrect.
It's not incorrect, it just differs from your opinion.
We all have different values for him, and can make arguments for and against.
We will see, but there is hardly a queue around the block banging on the door is there?

I still think people underestimate how important our system is to making players perform well. We play attacking football with loads of technically good players creating a lot of chances. May find out that these players don’t seem as good when they move on.

Agree totally.
A good player will get better in a good side.
An average player will become a better player in a good side.
An average player in a poor side will struggle, and possibly sink.

A year ago LND was my favorite sunderland player. I think we have moved on - still be happy if he stayed and signed - as a team we are clearly less dependent than we were
Yeah, getting to the Point of a forgotten man if he’s still not fit for the first two months of the season. Again would like him to stay as it’s no fee to pay for a new striker which could Easily be used to up his wages £250k or whatever. However the new lad/lads Might hit the floor running, keep Stewart out of the team and we aren’t that bothered for him to move on.

Thing is though, even if he had signed a deal last close season he would be sitting on hundreds of thousands of pounds more now than what he is, if he performs people will pay a fee so I don’t think running his contract down and earning less would be in his interests, it’s a strange situation.
He was probably being advised to hold out on our offer and see what happens. Then the second injury came which rocks things a bit. Now he’s stuck here and both sides look to be “holding out” but also injured so it’s harder to generate interest.

I suspect he’ll leave on a free next summer

I still have reservations about how clinical Stewart is. A seems to need a few chances to score, fortunately we create absolutely loads. But I’m not sure he’d get so many goals in a team that creates less. He’s not a one shot, one goal type players (his game is a lot more rounded than that)

I reckon he’ll look to see what offers he gets on a pre contract basis in January and where we are in the league.

He will then use those offers to negotiate a new deal with us assuming we look like going up.

I’d agree, he’s more of a poacher than clinical finisher.

I don’t think the club will allow him to leave on a free, the model makes us cash in on this situation.

Sell him . Sets a bad president for players playing all the angles and us running behind .
