Thats what my confusion is. Is it a other year based on wages now or improved? What if he doesn't accept the wages ?

That’s why at worst imo he is playing the rest of this season and hopefully showing his goal scoring maybe up to a big transfer into the premier

Yep, if we wish to take up the option then the contract expires next summer and not this summer.

His wages don’t increase, he’ll have to sign a new deal for that to happen (or most likely sold in the summer to someone else).

Although vital to us I don't think so either. At best a promoted team will take a punt on him on their way up next season but how much are they willing to pay realistically for it to make sense for us. But on the other hand it'll be considerably more than what we payed

I don't see why a promoted team would take that punt. He's only got 5 goals. There are a few strikers in the league I'd imagine infront of him in their plans.

In fairness, his goals per 90 is in the top few in the league. His injury has obviously prevented him getting beyond 5
