Ross Stewart - unlucky? Or a bullet dodged?

Ross Stewart was wonderful, brave and talented for us. He will be missed and the very best of luck to him in his rehabilitation. Those who carp and criticise have no class in my opinion.
Hasn’t been missed at all and doubt he will be in the future…..

You can be sure if they're saying he'll be back then that it will end up being longer also.

Given the fact they are struggling and fans are getting edgy whilst asking questions about where their £10m signing actually is, it is forcing things a bit.

It will probably be mid to end of November before he's fit and at that point it's around 18 games into the season.

I bet he doesn't play consistent minutes until at least after that November international break.

I can't agree at all with you. For two thirds of last season we were desperate for Stewarts running, leadership, touch and scoring ability. Most people would agree we would have stood a really good chance of promotion with the lanky Scot in our team. The same was true in the early games of this season when fans were calling out for a quick or emergency signing.

We were a good team with Ross Stewart. We are a good team without Ross Stewart. He got his money, we got ours. Played a full season as only striker at the club and worked his socks off. Scored at Wembley. Best of luck to him.
Really rate Stewart and I think he will do well once healthy for Southampton but as you get past 26 years of age in football terms the next injury your moving a level down from where your game is it’s always a tough decision because he may never get a serious injury age and be very good. Both clubs have a good deal here…

I am still surprised Southampton paid that much for him whilst he is still too injured to play so on that level it is a good deal.

I will always wonder just how good we could be with him playing for us because he had very few poor games for us and a great scoring record, would improve our defence at set pieces too.

Not sure on both clubs getting a good deal. It's 60/40 in our favour at the moment and as @Northumberland Rocks says it sounds like a setback for him. We done well for him and him for us I wish him well.
0-1 for Southampton at Boro.

Too soon to tell either way really
My thinking is very short term but by keeping Ross, we wouldn’t have had the players in that we had. That constitutes about a quarter of the season (until he is up and running). It seems to me we have moved on quickly so I would say it is already proven to be a good move for all - and I do mean all because I think Southampton have sufficient means to be patient for Ross’s return.

the model'll've processed lanko's medical data and predicted trajectory towards fitness, expected minutes of play and goals ratio, and the impact of his personality on the dressing room versus ten million benk mate. ten million benk won

Realistically too early to say. If he comes back the same player Southampton have got a good deal but there is just as much chance he comes back and has lost a yard of pace and isn’t quite the same player. If that happens we have done well to get out while we can with a good fee.
