Sounds familiar, I remember when the club were “trying” to sort Majas contract out, let him go and bought Will Grigg for a ridiculous fee.

Time and time again the club make the same mistake trying to be too tight and costing themselves more in the long run.
stewart is different to maja..he is much older..so worth much less even under contract..the cklub offered maja a vast sum that is probably aboiut all he will ever earn as soon as his current contract expires..

his contract certainly needs to be renewed..any evidence they arent trying? stewrat would be stupid at his age to sign one before the season ends..

why? clubs lose players to clubs in higher divisions all the time..i mean if asay, rptherham went up, and he went to them, that would be shockoiking, but any vclub plausibly in the top ten in that league next season..would be able to nab stewart easily enough..

way more ambition than what? they signed max power..is that an ambitious signing? bearing in mind safc did the same thing previously?
Selective targeting there re Power, who has done very well for them, but deemed not good enough for us as he wasn't a long term solution. Their owner has shelled out in a big way and all the staff are more than looked after. Some of the stuff would never happen under our owners.

You are forever the financial expert on here and it is rarely to put balance nor perspective on those fans outlooks who believe the charlatans have taken from the club. Its out and out defence of them, which ultimately allows your mask to slip. You actually accused Ellis Short of taking out of the club the other day, when every man and his dog knows he wasted millions of his own money signing off the cheques.

Despite your lunacy at times, I still appreciate your considered concern last October when I had covid. Thank you.

...and Methven claimed this kind of thing would never happen again under his watch. ''leave the business side to us Southerners''... it would be hilarious arrogance, apart from the fact he is still haunting our lives on a daily basis. He really is our Owen Oyston

good points however have you ever known a club to spend all the money they just received from a player? we will bring in a couple of bargain basement players as usual. I have no faith in the new regime ive seen it all before unfortnately
But Stewart isn’t a bargain based player, nor is Cirkin, Roberts, Clarke, Pritchard and a couple of others. All of who (in my opinion) are very good signings, not ‘big’ names.
They are a glimpse into what could be a sustainable future.

Just hope this is a good strategy, we need something positive and mebbes this is it.

Or on the eve of starting contract negotiations with Mclaughlin announcing to the world that he was a £5m goalkeeper, then being amazed that he asked for money to reflect that.

they didnt announce he was a £5m goalkeeper..they literallhy said he wasnt..but if someone wanted to pay it they would accept that..
mclaughlin throughout his career has let his contract run down and moved on a bosman..
It’s fine though, our goalkeeper situation has been solid ever since.
well mcloughlins vcareer has been poor ever since..we are getting close to the point where patterson has a higehr transfer value than mcloughlin.

Aye, but only because McLaughlin is 34
yes...and a resrve player at rangers..see heres the thing...any contract...we gave mcloughlin he would still be 34 by now...and so have little value..BUT Patterson if not playing..would also not be worth in that situation what he os worth now..

Have little value? We’d be in the Championship if we kept our decent players.

The fact you only seem to judge a player’s worthiness on resale value is worrying and explanatory.

even if we somehow fluke a playoff win in Stewart's position i still wouldn't sign a new deal. Norwich would be able to offer much better wages than us and will be competing at the top of the league whilst we'd be scrapping around in a relegation battle

Why would it be a shocking indictment on the club if we sold yet another of our better players to a championship club?

Get in the f***ing bin man. It's this small time mentality shite that the madrox parasites brought to the club and its killing the club.

We shouldn't still be in this position. At the very least we should be competitive in the championship.

He's on record saying how much he likes it here and it's closer to home which might count for something. However, he hasn't yet made a fortune from the game so you couldn't blame him for chasing the money. It's up to us to offer him decent money, but I wouldn't overpay. He might not be as effective at that level.
