Think there'll be some agreement in the middle , where he signs but has a release clause if premier league teams match it. That seems to suit all parties?

If he keeps scoring one of the premier league clubs in the bottom half/fighting relegation will be after him in January, Forest, Newcastle etc

You are the one who started it with your sarcy response, have a look in the mirror, no need for you to look on here, haha, serial arguer :) :) what a dick! Rangers wont have enough money for him BTW, tell your exclusive source that :)
You are the thickest bloke on here, you get a version or reality that doesn’t suit your tiny brain then resort to abuse.
You of course know absolutely nothing about Stewart or Rangers other than what you read on here you daft c-nt

I'm puzzled at how ordinary his career was before he joined Sunderland. Yet he looked a great signing pretty much straight away. Credit to our recruitment team who you have to now trust to unearth another gem if needs be. Had he been 26 and still at Ross County, would we have took a chance on him blossoming? I don't think so, you can draw parallels with Cole Stockton.

A premier league team needs to ask themselves a similar question. Will a 26 year old who spent most of his career at mediocre Scottish clubs be able to adapt to the best league in the world? It probably wouldn't be a popular transfer amongst the buying clubs supporters.

The lad has every right to see his contract out. He will have earned peanuts from football and is halfway through his career. Why should he allow owners to make millions from him while he earns a small fraction of that?

His agent should tell Speakman Ross is having 50% of any transfer fee or there won’t be one.
Trouble is his contract has almost 2 years to "see out". That's a long time to play on low wages, bearing in mind risk of injuries or loss of form. There should be a middle ground where we pay him well, get another year or 2 of security and include a slightly extortionate release clause.

lets just say we have offered him £18k a week, guessing a £10k pay rise, every week he doesnt sign losing £10k, £500K in a year
nowt compared to what'll be on the table if he keeps doing what he's doing

from our perspective it's annoying as fuck but from his i can totally understand why he hasn't signed anything yet. as mentioned above there's potentially life changing money on the table next summer if he hasn't signed a new deal (as we will sell if that happens) and the inevitable interest comes

I think his all around game is excellent. I think his 1 weakness is actually his finishing! He misses a lot of 1v1 chances and his goals scored are when he hasnt got time to think like the 2 the other night- it’s just aswell we make a good amount of chances.

But his hold up play and his link up play are brilliant. We are very lucky to have him,he’s lucky to be here too as he played for Ross county 2 year Ago and couldn’t score for shit. It’s one of them perfect matches.
Agreed. Seems to be about four chances to score. His link up play is superb.

Imagine if we had sold Kevin Phillips after his first good season - get Stewart nailed down to a long and improved contract, he'll be very difficult to replace, a key player and worth the money.
To keep team spirit -just explain to others you will all get a rose if he stays as we will do a lot better than if he leaves .

As is his defending of corners , chasing down opponents ,tackling and inspirational work rate.Must be an absolute joy for other players when they see him up top .

I hope stewart isn’t planning on running it down and leaving on a bosman. Bit worried if negotiations have been going on so long but can’t agree. If we can’t agree probably makes sense to sell in jan and get a fee
Sell next summer if he is adamant he doesn't want to sign. Ross seems a decent lad so if he has his heart set on a move doubt he'd object to a new contract to protect asset with the agreement we will sell when a decent bid comes in

He’s at a very big club now, no need to move.
Stuff like the above is the reason this board is seen as delusional. Say if a much smaller club like Bournemouth came in for him it would be a big step up in quality and wages. I'd love him to stay but if he doesn't want to we should cash in early next summer
