Deserves a long and improved deal.

This. He’s not gonna turn down several extra thousand a week just to extend his contract. He, and everyone else, knows that when the time comes when he does wanna move, being under a longer contract isn’t gonna stop that.

Whilst I rate the recruitment in general this is a concern for me, 3-4 months of “negotiation” on our key asset. I’ve heard through Scottish contacts (tin hat on) he feels he has been messed around by the club over the contract when he was more than willing to sign up. It’s likely he will run down another year and club will be forced to sell.

There are certain players you shouldn’t play poker with on contract negations and he is one of them, I think he’s the best striker in this division and the club should have tied him down by now (and not rest on “we’ve got an extension don’t worry”).

Can only hope our upward swing and further success on the pitch will change the stalemate otherwise he will be running out for Rangers next August.

I hope stewart isn’t planning on running it down and leaving on a bosman. Bit worried if negotiations have been going on so long but can’t agree. If we can’t agree probably makes sense to sell in jan and get a fee

Im not. From Stewarts POV there was no point in signing if we didnt get promoted. Now we have he may be less reluctant

Scottish contacts wearing tin hats?

put yourself in Ross Stewart's shoes. would you sign a new deal?

i wouldn't. not unless we offered silly money. he knows we'll be forced to sell him come the summer and if his form continues he'll have a pick of clubs to choose from. or at least that's what his agent is probably telling him

with his international ambitions etc why would you stay here

i think the best we can hope for is he signs a new deal with a release clause. otherwise i just don't see him doing it or it would have happened already
lets just say we have offered him £18k a week, guessing a £10k pay rise, every week he doesnt sign losing £10k, £500K in a year

How long does it take to agree a contract ffs. Since spring? Seems like somethings going wrong if it’s took that long without a resolution.

Maybe Stewart backed himself and knew his value and the wages he was worth would rise sharply if he started scoring in the Championship?

He's 26 with his current contract taking him to 28 and he's never had a big contract. Get this next contract right and he'll be set up for the rest of his life. In a similar situation, I wouldn't be rushing to sign one either.

Could be talking the difference between £10k a week and £50k. Come January, on his current form, there'll be clubs prepared to pay the latter.

Nout compared to the £6-£8m he could potentially command from a 3 year contract if he maintains his current form through this season is it? There's far less talented players than Stewart earning a lot more than £18k a week.

He signed his current contract in League 1 without much pedigree. There's no way it's £10k a week currently, or anywhere near that.

assuming we don't ho up, we'll sell him in the summer...That's fair enough if we get a big fee to reinvest in a couple of strikers

If he got a move to a bottom half premier league team, which I think he’s more than capable to play at that level, he would go straight on to a minimum of £50k a week. Two and a half month and he’s already made that missing £500k up

The club need to stop f***ing about now and get him tied down.

We got promoted in May. Seems like a fair bit of time to get an agreement in
He’s good but wouldn’t get a game for a PL side.
I think he’s overrated on here. I absolutely love him, but he’s got some deficiencies as a forward which I think would get found out at a higher level

If he leaves then he'll be going to a Prem team, not Rangers. He's already too good for that league and Rangers can't financially compete with Premier League clubs.

Just bagged a Champions league campaign so don’t under estimate their financial power now, also his family are all in/around west coast Scotland so it’s a lucrative move

Yawn yawn
he can negotiate a signing on fee here if he signs up. Who is your source in Scotland?
Shall i put the mobile numbers on here? You think that would be alright for you to get verification?

I think his all around game is excellent. I think his 1 weakness is actually his finishing! He misses a lot of 1v1 chances and his goals scored are when he hasnt got time to think like the 2 the other night- it’s just aswell we make a good amount of chances.

But his hold up play and his link up play are brilliant. We are very lucky to have him,he’s lucky to be here too as he played for Ross county 2 year Ago and couldn’t score for shit. It’s one of them perfect matches.
