Ross out of his depth imo

Back in the summer, did people seriously expect us to be challenging for promotion? I didn’t. I thought we were all but finished.

If I’d have been offered top six in February back then, I’d have taken your hand off.

That said, I’m now in a position where I’m surprised at the decent squad we have, but disappointed by our performances. We really should be doing better with what we have.

I’m not sure about Ross, but I think he’ll rightly be given another crack next season if he fails this time around.
I just keep hoping that one day all the players will click, Ross will find a better system and we’ll look like a formidable side.

I don’t think we’re ready for promotion, mad as that may sound. We’d be destroyed in the Championship. Something isn’t quite right, but sacking Ross after a few months would be mental. When we have a disappointing result, I just think about where we were last summer and it somehow feels better.

Just one more point. While I disagree with those calling for Ross’s head, the childish ad hominem responses are pathetic. They have every right to question the manager, it doesn’t mean they support SAFC any less than Ross’s advocates. Is it too difficult to discuss the subject, instead of hurling playground insults?
Good post.

I like Ross and want him to do well but this negative football with 1 striker and no support from midfield is baffling.

We have the players to be doing way better than we are which is the frustrating thing. We have two of the best strikers in the league yet only play 1. If we have to play 3 midfileders we leave our best attacking midfielder on the bench. Its madness.

There is absolutely no way he should or will be given another chance if we don't go up.

This league is beyond shite and given the budget and squad here, would be a monumental failure

Was always a risk as he hasn't managed in England

lampard and gerrard would of come here and both have done well in better leagues and playing better football, iam not anti ross i just wasnt thrilled when we got him,he was a nothing player and players wont look up to him even at league one level.

We have the best squad in this league and the biggest budget, and surprisingly minimal problems from the squad in terms of whinging etc. From that basis minimum acceptable is 1st to be honest. Whilst I’d take second as the end result is the same I’d be disappointed to not win the league this season, as I think everyone would inside. But looking like we’re struggling to get second even is unacceptable. I’d be replacing him personally on this basis alone

Part of the reason we are down where we are is the lack of long term planning and the constant changing of managers. Sacking him in the summer means we just have to start again.
Regardless of where we finish this season (FWIW I am convinced we will be top 2) he should and will get another season as a minimum

Why are we even having this conversation FFS?

How are we struggling to get 2nd? The teams above has played more games so it stands to reason they have more points
All this bed wetting from 1 f***ing draw. honestly man, this place is getting worse by the year

Best bit will be if come Friday if we’ve won our 2 home games we will be second, JR will be the best thing since sliced bread again and the open top bus parade will be back on.

Are you happy with our performances?
Do you think we will win our games in hand based on our current performances?
Personally I don't care about performances as long as we are getting results....but we aren't.

One change, 09 for Power would make a massive difference to our play, I don't understand how someone so obviously switched on can't see it?

I totally agree with this, we have 3 players who bust a gut and have great energy levels, 09, Gooch and Honeyman, at least 2 should be in every starting 11, and on occasion go for all 3, Power has been dire for a while now, he should be dropped

Yup. Sadly I won't be able to see the bedwetters turned happy clappers as I've put so many people on ignore in the last 24 hours.
I used to love coming on this board and exchanging views/banter with some really top people - going back as far as 2002 when the forum was created in this format and the Reid IN/OUT debate was raging.

Now, it seems as though it's over populated with kids wanting immediate results and slagging off managers, owners and players after one disappointing result.

Think hes only on a two year contract, can anyone confirm or deny...
Yes. 2 years

One disappointing result?
Now that is happy clapping....another phrase I hate.

They aren't swashbuckling, but we are a league one team with league one players. It was never going to be pretty. Do i wish we could score more? Yes, but I don't think it's anything to do with tactics, we just seem to be playing with a lack of confidence at the moment. I think we'll win at least 2 of our home games coming up.
Promotion generally comes from averaging 2 points per game. We are on 57 from 29 which means win against Blackpool on Tuesday and we are bang on track. Win against Accrington and we are ahead of schedule.
I'd love to see us streaking ahead and bossing the league, but given the mass upheaval in the summer and the huge number of players going in and out of the club I think it's a miracle we are even in touch with promotion - we were a wee bit spoiled by the start we had and now we are in the guts of the season we are playing under pressure. I back the manager to get us back on track and fully expect us to be in the top 2 by the end of Feb

All was well with the world this time last week when we'd beaten Wimbledon

Agree 100%, the only thing I would add is that having got into the position we were/are we’re making a right bulls lug of things of late so criticism is somewhat deserved.

I disagree with your last comment.
Personally I was relieved more than anything that we got the three points.
