He's obviously sticking to the one out one in situation, nothing to do with being skint or whatever. We're not going to bring another centre half in without any of the others going for example. Think Stewart got a bit over excited as he's prone to do, and openly admits.

Fair point. Can't remember exactly how he worded it but thought he said we had a couple of bids in and thought we'd sign up to 3 more before the window shuts. Could have meant he expected to sign one of the ones we'd bidded for and is confident of another two because he thinks a couple will move on, but aye it doesn't totally tally with what Ross has said

It actually came from Gav off RR. Just checked and Donald's actual quote was that 'we can go out and buy a couple more players if we want'.

Gav reposted the quote and added 'He followed this up by saying' we're close on a few players. Both for decent size fees'

I'm not sure where the 500k has come from now I'm looking unless he said it on the podcast.

Yep. But if he was "getting overexcited" about the new investors and it doesn't come off, raising our hopes, it's pretty disgraceful. I think we've all come to learn to not believe what he says about new signings/contracts etc, but to suggest he's found someone to take us to the "next level" and for it not to happen it would be absolutely soul destroying

Bullshitter to keep everyone happy for another couple of days until his increasingly desperate attempts to find a buyer to allow him to still make a nice profit . And people still fall for it .

Imminent ? possibly turn into three still the deluded dont see it.

It's almost like, until a player signs things can change, isn't it? Clearly Donald gets too excited, as he's already said, and says things he shouldn't. And as was also said on the podcast that Ross is far more cautious about signings.

Full quote of podcast:

'We're talking about strengthening the team with two or three more signings before the window shuts.

A couple of players on the desk are probably going to cost us half a million pounds if they are the ones we decide to go for.'

Its a bit ambiguous but later in the podcast he was quick to point out Ross would say 1 more in but he would say 3, presumably to manage expectation so don't think he would be misleading in suggesting two players for fees were for the same position (with one more than likely not to go through on that basis). He's using two possible 500k bids as weight to prove the finances are there.

It doesn't really matterike as long as we get the right players in.

To me that sounds like it could be £500k for the 2 players together. Could also mean each but we dont know

Totally and utterly skint
how? we are sigjing someone>?
Fair point but he also said we were making 1-3 signings at the same time. Surely he wouldn't include a a duplicate that would be shelved in that?
well he didnt say we were making

he didnmt say he thought we would sign three..he said it could be as manay as three...two bids in..
And less than 4 between them last season.
wyke was injured last season and griifgg was only here for a few months..
Good. Like at every club the managers opinion has to be the only one that matters otherwise what's the point. Nowt worse than a know nowt chairman sticking his beak in.
the managers should never be the only opinion that matters..because the manager at a well run club doesnt do the negotoating..has absolutely no idea about that stuff..

if you leave everything to the manager you get a moyes like situation where they just bring in their mates..and when they leave you have sto start agan..
