There was a time where he could/should have been dropped, he's not invincible. And he wouldn't have a sniff.

Very good player, never lived up to the hype of when he was a teenager.

Has not lived up to his hype when he was a teenager as looked like he was going to be a world beater.

What I mean by that is it looked like he was going to be one of the best in the world don't think that has happened but still been a fantastic player.

Has been a disappointment in the big tournaments no doubt about it,however don't think he should have been dropped, because to drop someone you need someone better to take his place and we have never had anyone in the last 5 years or so no where near as good.

Probably going to break the all time goalscoring and caps record for England and still has a good chance at the premier league goalscoring one. And for a lot of games he hasnt played as an out and out striker... Not lived up to the hype? What a load of bollocks.

I don't think he has lived up to the hype - because from the age of 16, he was so hyped by the media that we were expecting our own Ronaldo or Pele.

Unfair expectations? Hes not exactly done bad for himself. Numerous league and domestic titles, champions league winner (including scoring in a final). Aye, he might not be as good as Pele or Ronaldo or this generations equivalent in C.Ronaldo and Messi but how many players are? In my opinion hes been in and around the top 5 best players in the world nearly every season he has played and certainly in the top 10.

Not far off with the all time prem assist record either.

End of career assessment......Could of done better.
Club
Manchester United
Individual
Likely England record cap holder and goalscorer.

Agreed though he could of done better

Would of liked a bit more out of him from an England perspective. Its all ifs and buts tho init and at 300K a week someone somewhere seems to think hes worth it.

Good player on his day, still a bellend he shouldn't be captain.
Agree with only one of three points. Great on his day and good when he is injured. Define bellend as he has very few red cards and less than Cattermole or Beckham. But he should not be Captain. Agreed.

Absolutely and that was pretty much the point I was making. We expected him to become the best player in the world and some people can't get beyond that and see his career as one of under achieving rather than judging him by the same standard as everyone else.

Thats irrelevant, if someone is stupid enough to pay him it, he's not going to say "nar, fuck that, I'll play for £8.15 an hour"
