There was a time where he could/should have been dropped, he's not invincible. And he wouldn't have a sniff.
Very good player, never lived up to the hype of when he was a teenager.
Probably going to break the all time goalscoring and caps record for England and still has a good chance at the premier league goalscoring one. And for a lot of games he hasnt played as an out and out striker... Not lived up to the hype? What a load of bollocks.
I don't think he has lived up to the hype - because from the age of 16, he was so hyped by the media that we were expecting our own Ronaldo or Pele.
Not far off with the all time prem assist record either.Probably going to break the all time goalscoring and caps record for England and still has a good chance at the premier league goalscoring one. And for a lot of games he hasnt played as an out and out striker... Not lived up to the hype? What a load of bollocks.
And hardly competitive friendlies? How many of his goals for England have been penalties (out of interest only not trying to argue otherwise)
ClubEnd of career assessment......Could of done better.

Agreed though he could of done better
Agree with only one of three points. Great on his day and good when he is injured. Define bellend as he has very few red cards and less than Cattermole or Beckham. But he should not be Captain. Agreed.Good player on his day, still a bellend he shouldn't be captain.
He is ... as far as English players go. But I wonder hiw many top international sides he would get into? He's quality and unlike quite a few others absolutely loves playing for England
That's the issue. He is ... as far as English players go. But I wonder hiw many top international sides he would get into?

Which ones wouldn't he get in?He is ... as far as English players go. But I wonder hiw many top international sides he would get into?
Unfair expectations? Hes not exactly done bad for himself. Numerous league and domestic titles, champions league winner (including scoring in a final). Aye, he might not be as good as Pele or Ronaldo or this generations equivalent in C.Ronaldo and Messi but how many players are? In my opinion hes been in and around the top 5 best players in the world nearly every season he has played and certainly in the top 10.
Haha you've made my day. Most of them.
Probably Holland, Germany, Spain, France ...Which ones wouldn't he get in?
Would of liked a bit more out of him from an England perspective. Its all ifs and buts tho init and at 300K a week someone somewhere seems to think hes worth it.
