Rooney Turns Down Everton

Just been on 5 live news that he’s turned down an interview for the Everton job to finish the season with Derby, fair play to the lad, can’t imagine most young managers would have made the decision to turn down premier league wages and stay at a club in administration and in the relegation zone!

His time at Everton will come in time if he continues doing well elsewhere

He knows this

Bet Baldy Alan wishes he did the same in 09

Is there a thread about it on here already like? Couldn’t see one when I searched.

Stupid move.

If Derby goes tits up which it still is it isn't a certainty he would ever get a job interview leading to an offer like that again. He could still turn out to be a poor manager in the long term. At least at Derby he would have the resources straight away.

Fair play to him. He's done a cracking job to get Derby to where they are all things considered and will have worked a miracle if they stay up. It clearly means a lot to him to finish the season and give it a good go.

At the same time, he will almost certainly move onto bigger things and have the pick of a number of clubs in the summer regardless whether they stay up so think he's made the right choice, and will have enhanced his reputation by showing loyalty. Good on him though.
