ThisOr he's going to play more for Everton and they're in Europe and he wants to extend his career?
I thought he had retired about three or four years ago....Strange one that. With immediate effect.
Excellent international record but never managed it in major tournaments, aside from 2004, which is where it matters most.
I wouldn't want to sit on the bench when I see what plays ahead of me in the England set up.More likely didn't want to sit on the bench.
This this and this again.Great servant.
Hugely underrated because he wasn't as good as Messi and Ronaldo
We'll see by JanuaryIs he hell man, plays and looks like someone about to hit 40.
Messi has worked at his game the same as Ronaldo and both have reaped the rewards for dedication and hard work...Rooney has chased the money and just worked..Like Messi.
We would have won Euro 2004 if he hadn't got injured.
I was there and every fan thought we were on the verge of something special and then he got injured and the hope disappeared... I was gutted.
Gets a lot more criticism than he deserves. Been a great servant to club and country his whole career and is retiring as England all time top scorer, not sure too many people can complain at that. Yes he didn't do it in major tournaments, but there's more to England than Wayne Rooney and the whole team failed to perform.
So National Service then?No player should ever retire from international football in my opinion, if he's fit to play Premier League football he should be fit to play for England if selected
Exactly this!!!
Some seem to think because he didnt single handedly carry endless shote england squads to a world cup he isnt an all time great
Messi has worked at his game the same as Ronaldo and both have reaped the rewards for dedication and hard work...Rooney has chased the money and just worked..
Jimmy Greeveshardly any players do.
greatest english striker of all time
