Rooney in the mirror talking about us

The only thing sad that day was the behaviour and lack of class shown by our supporters. Antics more associated with Stoke City or Bolton Wanderers. Make no mistake they won't even need a team talk when we go to Old Trafford this season, and it could get ugly.

Yes and Waynes showing his class with this article.

Jus for the record can you tell me how you thought Sunderland supoprters should have behaved that would have shown our class.

Maybe if he devoted more of his thought process to putting in a proper performance at international level he'd be less obssessed with Man City.

What did they expect us to do?

Cry with them, feel sorry for them?

Would they have been any different if the roles were reversed? (unlikely I know..)

If the roles were reversed and we lost the title to Newcastle we wouldn't be happy having our noses rubbed in it. It's typical footy banter (although SAFC fans being so happy with themsleves for doing the Poznan, as if it was somehow original and witty - was crap) but I would expect Man Utd to want some pay back. This thread shows we are just the same - why wouldn't Rooney want payback?

Go to say I agree. The 'Poznan' by our fans was pretty sad. And I would expect Rooney to react that way - why wouldn't he want to pay us back. It's not a major issue but I don't have any problem with what Rooney is saying.

Why isn't he thanking Sunderland for taking 4 points off City Its something the mighty Man Utd couldn't do and pretty much lying down in the last game and keeping it going to the last moment. What were their results against City - thats where Man Utd should be concentrating their efforts not pointing the finger at others.

What he also fails to address is that City were the best team last season and deserved the title. The derby at Old Trafford should be all the evidence he needs

He is very very thick like.

Obviously Alex is still perturbed. Probably thinks he deserves summat for going on about 'what a great club' we are for years

Have any other United players mentioned it?

These players have banter and pisstaking every other week, amazing how sensitive they are about this

Man Utd fans were quick to rub it in when we were relegated at their place a few years back.

Didn't see any of our players mentioning it in the press.

The bitter bastard.

Agreed.

If we were so sensitive about people singing 'going down' during the 02/3 & 05/6 seasons we'd have grievances against 20-odd teams, at least!

Amazing really, you would think the 6-1 splattering they got at home by City would hurt more?

 Supremely ironic. I think they feel they cannot show any weakness about Man City, so they are doing their crying over us

The Poznan celebration wasnt original and wasnt particularly clever either. Made me laugh though and probably a lot of other people who have no time for them.

I was down there when we were relegated and at every opportunity their supporters took the piss. The atmosphere and hostility towards us on the train back to Manchester that night (after we dared take a point off them) was something to behold.

Exactly - the classy Man Utd are doing what they do best thrying to intimidate teams they know/think they can beat- the fact that they got stuffed off City is ignored becaue they can't do anything about it. How much class Man Utd fans showed having their ticking clock showing how long it was since City won anything with the word Massive on it. People in glass houses etc.....

Its not something I'd join in with but at that moment in time it worked a treat.
