Rooney in the mirror talking about us

Always have a soft spot for them for stopping the mags from winning the title and for the massive FTM flag they had in the Roker End.

I can see why some people think the Poznan celebration was a bit small time but it was just a laugh. People seem to forget that when it looked like Man Utd had won the league people who went on to do the Poznan were applauding them.

Let's put it this way.

I'd love to see some clips from the BBC and Sky sports newsrooms because I'll wager my house that there was plenty of a whoopin' and a hollerin' going on in both of them at the culmination of events of the City game - and they're supposed to be objective and impartial puntits.

Well if those professionals can get caught up in the excitement then so can this humble football fan on hearing the news feed through live, at the ground and on the day.

Fuck him.

the entire nation was amused and enthralled

I almost gave a shit myself for a few seconds

If man city had lost the league title in the last minute at our place then people would have done exactly the same thing and took the piss out of them.

It's funny how the people who are saying it was 'pathetic' and 'sad' are the same people who wanted man u to win the league.

FFS how can Turnip from the Tip call himself a Sunderland fan when he didn't even want us to beat man u????

Not quite a soft spot, but I don't mind them when everyone my age hates them, for the reason you stated.

The only thing sad that day was the behaviour and lack of class shown by our supporters. Antics more associated with Stoke City or Bolton Wanderers. Make no mistake they won't even need a team talk when we go to Old Trafford this season, and it could get ugly.
:lol::lol: Classic wind-up material.

Fuck sake, it's from his biography of playing ten years in the Premier league and he happens to be explaining the context in which he found out he hadn't won the title, and what he can remember from that moment, and it happens to be accurate.

Since when did we get so precious/stupid as to become outraged or pissed off every time we are mentioned in terms that aren't wholly positive? Weren't we having a go at Swansea for doing the same last weekend?

for those at work

Ballardesque.

Wayne is a paradoxicall figure, he seems genuinely surprised that fans actually relish watching the mighty fall (albeit probably temporarily), is he cognisent of the fact that the big guns are usually there to be shot at?

Whereas Wayne, in a role reversal treats fans with the utmost dignity, perfectly expressed immediately after the final whistle after England v Algeria, with a well thought out diatribe on the polarisation between player and supporter.

See also his seminal 'What? fuckin' what?' into camera seconds after scoring a penalty for the much put upon Man Utd. A piece Bertrand Russell called 'shite spouting from a bald headed pug-faced liitle ****' in The Spectator.

I don't mind Man United, and don't give a toss either way about Rooney.

Everyone around the country got caught up in the moment, we just happened to be playing them at the time. It was a natural reaction, not least because the team you're playing on the day become the enemy by default. Anyone else would do the same.

Did you, or did you not say you wanted to see them lifting the trophy at our place? This meant they more than likely had to beat us.

Just read the fuckin link man, it's on this thread. Said I would take a draw if it meant United won the league. A draw. Now I may be mistaken, but a point against Man U is usually regarded as a decent result. I said I'd take a draw and hoped QPR beat City. And they nearly did, but for Brton's thuggish antics. Don't let the facts get in the way though, eh mate
