Re: The so called Udinese Model

sissoko cost 2 million-they will make a massive profit on him.

cisse-26 goals and 6 assists in a season and a half(all competitions) for 9 million was a huge blunder??,absolutely clueless, aren't the russians in for him for 15 million aswell?.

debuchy is the first choice rb for france and is far from awful, its a ridiculous comment

these blinkered views on the mags are an embarassment and reek of sour grapes:oops:

If only everyone was as well balanced and un biased as you eh moose

Re: The Udinese way

I think people need to accept that good players will leave irrelevant of what route we go down. We're not a big enough club to hold onto top players, like Mig.

This.

We have to sadly know and understand our place in the football food chain. However, wouldn't it be nice to have players top clubs wanted instead of us having to negotiate with fodder to get rid of our shite?

Re: The so called Udinese Model

sissokho has played about 3 good games
cisse was a huge blunder
dubuchy is f***ing awful and they'd only get their money back for him
Ba was a great signing for them but they shouldnt have put the release clause in his contract, they could have got a lot more than £7m for him and would have gained more if they kept him
It's all about opinions.
We were all creaming on here at the possibility of getting Sissokho and now he's shite.

Thanks to the lads who've posted the links on this.

I'm now far more intrigued by whats going on at Watford which, to date, I've largely ignored. Didn't they have close to an entire team made up of loan players? Any enlightenment would be gratefully received.

As far as SAFC goes, this - following on from the appointment of Paolo - signals to me a real shift in style from Ellis Short. It states in the Chronicle that he has been openly frustrated in the value for money he's had so far. Hardly surprising, of course, and also suggests that the style and advice of Niall Quinn is long since discarded.

Where I am worried though - call me a bedwetter if you like - is that this 'model' is so far unproved in English football. Clubs that recruit heavily from oversea's have had mixed results. There is something about English football that appears to appeal to some and creates high anxiety, and a loss in form, in others.

The first thing for Di Fanti and Angeloni to figure out will be which players will mentally, physically and emotionally be able to adjust to the English game. I also hope they'll source some players from the UK. The thought of 11 non-UK players in our team leaves me cold.

Bottom line - I guess - is that for us to continue to benefit from the backing of ES, then we'll need to be prepared for him to find a sustainable model which will ensure that his backing is not wasted. It may be a very long-term plan. It may see many frustrations, but as the top man, it is his shout.

I'm nervous.. but don't think we have much of a choice either.
