Re: The so called Udinese Model

Why can't we do both? Roberge, Diakite and Cabral are all in their mid-twenties, Ba and Watmore will be for the future.

Roberge probably won't make the starting 11 like. Squad player.

However I fully believe that Diakite & Cabral shall start.

Re: The so called Udinese Model

Me and a mate were talking about this the other day, most clubs are just feeder clubs for the big boys these days, makes it a lot harder to build a strong team that can challenge for things doesnt it

Exactly. All we can do (as a club) when the vultures come circling is try to get the best deal we can & re-invest wisely, unlike previous seasons (Hendo deal for example).

Re: The so called Udinese Model

The 18 million we got for Henderson makes up for the last 10 years of shite tbf.

No it doesnt, it means our system is a pile of utter shite. The fact Henderson came through is probably down to the lads own footballing ability rather than been professionally coached by Sunderland. Our track record of producing youngsters is shameful, and the sale of one player for such an amount does not make up for the last 10 years.

Re: The so called Udinese Model

I like the idea short term but I don't want us to be a selling club.

Unfortunately we are all selling clubs whether we like it or not.

Hopefully this model will bring plenty of money into the club longer term and get rid of the reliance on Short. Getting the academy producing more young players will help as well

All sounds good to me, interesting to see how it all progresses

Indeed - and apparently it goes further. We have paid around 40k each for polish and Irish u16 international goalkeepers and they are joining the academy. I'm told the polish lad is huge and very, very highly rated.

Revolution and Evolution - great stuff!

Re: The so called Udinese Model

this udinese model is nothing new, in fact isn't that what they are trying to do at the shit tip up the road but failing badly

aye mate, we can't rely on mr short to continue to subsidise an ailing business model. the weeding out of our well intentioned if somewhat amateur former chairman has paved the way for major changes to the way the club is run as a business. hope it works out mate

the problem with that lot is they are still paying over the odds for their players where we are going for cheaper options, they've got the right idea just doing it badly wrong

Sissokho was a screaming bargain.
They'll probably double their money on debuchy and cabaye as well.
Their big blunder was cisse, far too expensive.
They got Demba Ba on a free and got 7m for him.

sissokho has played about 3 good games
cisse was a huge blunder
dubuchy is f***ing awful and they'd only get their money back for him
Ba was a great signing for them but they shouldnt have put the release clause in his contract, they could have got a lot more than £7m for him and would have gained more if they kept him

sissoko cost 2 million-they will make a massive profit on him.

cisse-26 goals and 6 assists in a season and a half(all competitions) for 9 million was a huge blunder??,absolutely clueless, aren't the russians in for him for 15 million aswell?.

debuchy is the first choice rb for france and is far from awful, its a ridiculous comment

these blinkered views on the mags are an embarassment and reek of sour grapes:oops:
