Except, of course, the article also makes mention of Udinese deciding to retain the services of some core players (Di Natale and Jorgensen being the examples used). Therefore, even under the 'Udinese model' there is no definite need to sell every player at the earliest opportunity for the first big fee being offered.
It is also worthy of note that the financial circumstances of the Premier League in 2013 are not the same as Serie A and Sunderland are not the same size club as Udinese (for example, their average attendance Serie A is 17k-18k).
I am hoping that if we are able to remodel our scouting system by adopting some of the systems and contacts that might be arriving, then the most significant advantage will be a footballing one rather than primarily a benefit to the balance sheet. Accountancy is never going to catch on as a spectator sport, in my opinion.
The problem with going down this route is that if we look to sell one of our decent players like Udinese do, even for a great profit, people will start moaning. Just look at Mignolet.
