I see Nick Barnes mentioned in that article. Didn't he say he wouldn't write for the club again after what happened to Rob Mason?

No idea speedy, someone just mentioned it, so i thought i would post up the website link, as i had remembered it, having seen it 4 weeks ago. after having a browse.

Paid? The fuck

This just isn't true. Do you think we tell any of the writers what they can and can't write about the club? Really?

We do this because we are passionate fans that like to voice our views. Nobody is stopped from being negative about the club, or positive for that matter.

Nor me. It's solely restricted to RTG, bizarrely. Some of the stuff that gets said about us on here baffles me. I'm just a season ticket holder that likes to blog about my feelings on the club - we have lads living all over the world and country writing for us, young men and women that are studying at university, older lads that have been going for decades that just so happen to be handy when it comes to writing - fans from every demographic. Some of the accusations, like suggesting we have a pro club agenda or get paid by the club to write positive stuff, couldn't be further from the truth!

Season ticket holder of 20+ years. Other than that, nowt!

You sound like a puppet for the club to be honest. No offence.

This is really worrying. Systematically closing down independent voices on the club. What a great world we live in.

Reminds me of East Germany, during the cold war,i have been spending some time, researching the cold war, as history is a interest of mine

Your latest report appear to have taken to producing a Narrative that seems, to me at least, promoting the Clubs agenda . Exactly what is RR link up with SAFC? We know ALS have jumped into bed with the Club from the statement made some weeks ago but that seems to be for a business arrangement and monetary gain..

I don't know how much more I can say about it that isn't already in that article. We were invited along to meet them and we went, that's the extent of it.

I'm sure this is not the forum for this but if you want to have a good chat by PM about corporate culture, it's implications in a neoclassical economic environment and how this fits in a historical context. I'd be more than happy to talk.:lol:

a very reasonable response, and in a better than normal context.

Im struggling to understand the issue.

You buy tickets and go and watch the match. Afterwards, you leave. If you no longer want to go, you dont. The tickets are cheap compared to many clubs are they not?

Why does it need a discussion with the club, what are they doing that is so bad anyway?

And secondly, why are so many on here so bothered that RR are having a meeting with the club, going on like they have slept with the enemy or something.

Seems like nothing and nothing to me.

Bizarre.

Chris waters is spot on. Glad to hear he wasn't one of the ones affected by the redundancies. Does a lot for fans, particularly those who travel to the SOL from abroad and makes sure they are looked after, and seems genuine about wanting to improve things at the club.

I say things as I see them and how I remember them, to be honest mate. Not everyone will agree with me and not everyone will remember things in the same way I do. I stand by it, not out of arrogance, but conviction. If I am wrong, I'm wrong, but everyone is wrong from time to time and I'm no different.

Campbell was long before my column on Ball btw, which I know was unpopular but, let's face it, the reaction to the Ball comment on here was way over the top. As @Royal 8er points out, don't think very personal attacks on my stutter were really all that necessary, and I find it difficult to accept moralising from people who would think otherwise. I've defended Sunderland and Sunderland fans far more often than I've ever criticised, and still do now.

I've certainly never made up anything just to meet a deadline.

I also always find it interesting how many people who call me arrogant are happy to tell me what 'Sunderland fans' think and speak for them, particularly when it's attached to a further accusation of hypocrisy. Not quite sure how that irony goes unnoticed tbh!.

But not everyone is going to like me, whether it's here, Twitter, work, the pub, whatever really. I can accept that and it doesn't bother me. I'm lucky to get to do what I do now and I very much know it was down to luck and being in the right place at the right time more than anything else. Universal popularity was never part of that deal so I just tend to take it as it comes. I've had far more positive reactions from people I've met both in person and online, so I can't grumble. If people don't like me or respect me, then fair play, it's not going to change either of our lives tbh. In all honesty, there is plenty about myself that I don't like either so can understand where people are coming from a lot of the time.:lol:

Just live and let live, I reckon.
The only issue I had was the vitriol comment. It's a strong term and even if there was hate it can't have been more than the odd comment. It was unnecessary and it was almost as if you were trying to paint Sunderland fans in a bad light. Considering the paper you were working for it was understandable. Anyway that's been discussed to death.

Personally I follow you on twitter and think you offer genuine insight but I'm glad to see you can understand why people distrust you.

It's not on for people to mock a speech impediment or go personal in any form, but I'd like to see you post more on here.

Interesting thread. There's been some howlers on the club's social channels of late, not to mention far too much hard sell (GET YOUR TRAINING GEAR HERE) for my liking.

Don't get the spite towards RR and other fan sites - keep up the good work. I'd be interested to know if there was any talk of the matchday programme at this meeting - is there going to be a new editor this season?

I like you mate. You're very articulate and you always invite discussion.

The only reason for my response to the opening post was in light of articles such as this one:

https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...e-time-to-break-the-cycle-of-sacking-managers

I found this particularly concerning considering how poor Moyes had been, both in terms of our results on the field and the way he was personally carrying himself off it. No one denied it wasn't going to be a difficult job, but he made a it a lot more harder for himself.

I think RR being the voice of the fans is a good thing, but if this is the case they should be delivering the message on behalf of the fans and not using it as an opportunity to present their own opinions. I believe if you had your way we'd still have Moyes and I don't know anyone in real life who wanted him to stay. Certainly the vast majority on here wanted him gone.

Did the club get asked why the friendly against Celtic when it's going to bring nothing but trouble.

Are the club aware we have a great tie in with Feyenoord, or was this question "forgotten" about??

Until the biggest bully on the board at the time (wtdog or other moniker he was using) demonised him and the rest of the cowards joined in fishpaste was a damn good poster. When the bullies taunted him about his stutter that was a new low on here. Disgraceful and all because he said it as he saw it over Kevin ball.
He didn't need to swear, insult or tell lies to get his point across unlike so many on here.
He was safc born and bred and among the most knowledgeable on here.
Never mind another win for the lowest common denominator.
Hi Fishpaste

I general like you CF but your sicking and ridiculous defence of the f***ing useless Moyes was very misguided. No logic in it at all.
