In his somewhat defiant post-Chelsea interview, Steve Bruce raged about Asamoah Gyan's shock departure for Al Ain. After painting a picture of a money-grabbing mercenary that the whole club is better off without, the manager implored us all to 'draw our own conclusions'. Challenge accepted. There seems to be a popular myth in football that you...

I must say that's a great article, Captain.

I'm confused.

I thought someone on RTG went around deleting links to Roker Report, but now their pet robot is posting the links ... ?

Our differences have been resolved.

Another very good piece imo and it pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter. I'm angry about Gyan wanting to leave to play in a shite league for money and I've been calling him a mercenary twat ever since he left, but the fact is that it is becoming a recurring theme. It is one of many things that deeply concern me about Steve Bruce- I'm not in the Bruce Out camp yet, but have been worried about many aspects of his management since last season and, unfortunately, i cant say that any of them have really been addressed.

Most people who read the board regularly will remember that Captain Fishpaste was one of the more vocal advocates of giving Bruce time last season and is generally a considered poster and far from a knee jerker. When fans like that are starting to seriously question whether he is the man for the job then you realise that Bruce is very near to losing the support of a large section of the crowd. There are a lot of questions about Bruce's suitability and ability to manage SAFC and he needs to start answering at least some of them very quickly

Once he gets an idea in his head - Thats IT. He hates Bardsley and continues to let that cloud his judgment of him. He now has it in for Bruce, and will from now on be very critical of him.

He's been spouting the shite about Bruce's inability to keep top strikers, despite most knowing that it's all about the money.

Had we offered more wages Bent and Gyan would still be at Sunderland.

Re: [roker report] Captain's Blog: At Bruce's Behest - Drawing My Own Gyan Conclusion

There simply must be a common-denominator within the club itself because greedy footballers are not something unique to this club.
common-denominator is that our club is determined to try and get the best players we can get without breaking our wage structure. I think we manage to get some amazing players such as Cana, Gyan and even Mensah but at the end of the day, all of these players come with some sort of catch. There is some reason why these players aren't being sniped by bigger or more established clubs and that is the common-denominator.

Obviously, with Angeleri something of a figure of fun at the club, and with the press focusing mostly on the silly so-called racism aspect of the quotes, few were willing to take what he said seriously.

That is an excelent point. I am not very happy with the whole Angeleri thing. I cant understand how bad this lad can really be?

Guess you didn't watch our reserve game against Newcastle on the day Gyan signed for us?

 Most people on here will tell you that I got the idea of offering Bruce blanket support to my head. Yet here I am, raising big questions over his management. Funny that...

Fact is, you can't accept that my opinion on Phil Bardsley differs to yours and you get all precious and upset that I don't rate the lad. Your opinion on him differing from mine does not bother me one jot. To each their own. No idea why my opinion on the matter bothers you so much.
