Roker Rapport Podcast: With Paul Reid & Kevin Ball - Submit your questions

Good one that - I forgot about the Sartori involvement with the academy, keen to hear Reid's perspective on it.
in what capacity are they being brought over (trails?? pre contracts??) SD ... mentioned work permits???

such a high number of players could that potentially change the nature of how the club plays or create two camps of players (the Spanish speaking and the rest)

To Bally - what input did he have on his role at the club changing, i.e. academy coach to ambassador and back to academy involvement. Did these match his career aspirations? What were his thoughts on the previous regime given his role at various functions/events?

He's gone - his Dad (assume it's his Dad) posted this on Twitter a week or so ago:

"Good to see him sign, but there was no desertion from Luca,SAFC could just have said NO they had to agree to the approach but let’s be honest they were happy to let it happen. Despite what Stewart Donald says and I really like him for our club."

Thank you, I assumed this may be the case and in fact the club were happy to cash in on a kid. Shame.

LOL. Indeed.

I liked bally at centre back, and he turned into a good midfielder. But you could ask him about that transition.

Reid had put him into midfield and paired Ord with melville at the back, leaving no place in defence for ball. To start with it wasn't pretty.

There was a game early on in the promotion season at roker when he was sent off against Southend, and bally was miles off looking comfortable in the midfield.

Would be interesting to see if he recalls it.

Bally - Did you nearly shit yourself with your tackle in the derby game at SJP and the ball came back off our crossbar bar from 40 yards.

That's a good question actually and you could put an academy slant on as well - should young players specialise in one position or be comfortable in more than one (obviously pros and cons - tactical understanding, more chances in the team but can become jack of all trades etc)

To Paul- thanks for coming on after I tweeted to ask if you would... question would be... Stu has mentioned satori looking to bring in talent from Uruguay..I would like to ask how this is progressing and how are the other young lads doing who have been brought over from France and other countries?

Last night there was lots of academy players involved, what does that mean for the likes of Alex Storey, Adam Bale, Sam Brotherton and Jack Connolly who werent?
How many players have we actually lost to other clubs those summer? e.g Greenwood and Stephenson

Will more u23 players be heading out on loan even though it may weaken the team further?

following from the loan question, if so which players will they be looking to loan

Good stuff.

1) Have they prepared and discussed a five-year plan on how the current youth players can be integrated into the first team? If so has this plan been discussed with the first team management, did they have input into it?

2) Is Luca Stephenson still at the academy? What happened with Liverpool? If he is, what steps were taken to argue this was the right place for him?

3) An overview of how we scout youngsters of others clubs in the UK. Are we planning to invest further in this area?

4) Are there plans in place to scout foreign youngsters? Joel Asoro was a success, but I believe that was led by a chap who had contacts, assuming we don't have those contacts now, how would we go about replicating that far-reaching information?

4b) We used to have young players from Trinidad & Tobago over for a couple of weeks, any plans in place to do so again or even do more from different countries?

4c) I believe we have acadamy's In a couple of different companies, are these created in the hope of developing a player able to play here or more so to improve our "brand"?

4d) Satori spoke about South American kids coming over. Donald spoke about the logistical issues with this. Has this been spoken about properly or is it just an idea?

5) Are we looking to replicate any type of model like Bilbao's, if so, have we made any contact with them to gain knowledge of how to do so?

Sorry if already answered but Luca Stephenson went to Liverpool. Think they put him in a house down there
