Roker Rapport Podcast: With Paul Reid & Kevin Ball - Submit your questions

Hi all

As per with previous Podcasts, I'm opening up the floor for people from here to submit their questions for Academy of Light manager Paul Reid and Kevin Ball when they come in to record a show with us tomorrow.

We may venture into some of Bally's playing career but the main aim of this show is to get a good handle on the running of the academy, their plans for the future, hopes for players within the system currently, strategies, how they handle looking after players who leave the club and go elsewhere, the players out on loan currently, the players who may leave in January to gain experience and so on - so if you have any questions surrounding any of those topics, please post them on this thread and we'll do our best to get them all answered.

Cheers.

Good stuff.

1) Have they prepared and discussed a five-year plan on how the current youth players can be integrated into the first team? If so has this plan been discussed with the first team management, did they have input into it?

2) Is Luca Stephenson still at the academy? What happened with Liverpool? If he is, what steps were taken to argue this was the right place for him?

3) An overview of how we scout youngsters of others clubs in the UK. Are we planning to invest further in this area?

4) Are there plans in place to scout foreign youngsters? Joel Asoro was a success, but I believe that was led by a chap who had contacts, assuming we don't have those contacts now, how would we go about replicating that far-reaching information?

4b) We used to have young players from Trinidad & Tobago over for a couple of weeks, any plans in place to do so again or even do more from different countries?

4c) I believe we have acadamy's In a couple of different companies, are these created in the hope of developing a player able to play here or more so to improve our "brand"?

4d) Satori spoke about South American kids coming over. Donald spoke about the logistical issues with this. Has this been spoken about properly or is it just an idea?

5) Are we looking to replicate any type of model like Bilbao's, if so, have we made any contact with them to gain knowledge of how to do so?

Good questions!

1. Given the number of players to come from the acdemy and have good careers with us or elsewhere...what do they think they can do better? Do they think two full england internationals is axchieve=able in the next decade as it was in the last? Oer should it be more than that?

If satori gets his way re the South American 50+ players how are they going to cope with such a large number of players

1.) @paulreid you mentioned on twitter that you took responbility for the 7-0 defeat for the u23s. Did this cause upset in the u23 dressing room as only two players from the last few games of the season were missing Embleton and Molyneux (looked at the last squads on Transfermarkt.com)

2.) @bally youve had credit from players like duncan and pickford in the past. Are you still acting as a mentor to many of the academy players? If so, what do they come to you about, loans contracts etc?

3.) How is the established which players will be pushed to the first team? Is it based on training or match performance? If the latter how can any u23s be pushed into the first team other than kimpioka?

4.) How is player scouted for the academy, what type of attributes do you look for?

5.) You signed Bainbridge and Hunter in the summer, will we be looking to sign more players released from other academies?

6.) How will the signing of European and south american talent work after brexit?

7.) With the managers of our academy teams, is it worth hiring ex players rather than people with no professional experience i.e dickman?

8.) Paul, you mentioned about Mark Atikinson previously, what will his role be moving forward?

He's gone - his Dad (assume it's his Dad) posted this on Twitter a week or so ago:

"Good to see him sign, but there was no desertion from Luca,SAFC could just have said NO they had to agree to the approach but let’s be honest they were happy to let it happen. Despite what Stewart Donald says and I really like him for our club."

1.) How are we going to stop academies stealing are players? Will we promote them quicker into higher age groups or give them the example of mumba that they could play for the first team?

2.) Following on from the question above, will we be stealing players in the future from lower academies than ours?
