I would imagine it was down to bright red paint wasn't produced back them days? The black/ dark green was pretty synonymous with painting stuff like railings, band stands and lamp posts.
I agree. It would almost inevitably come down to what was cheap and what was mass produced.

Agreed. The club has looked at it but they would have to be stripped back and totally refurbed.

This was a cost effective version of it and from the start we pushed for this. The club has given us advertising space that they could’ve easily sold instead. It’s fan led and the club top to bottom have helped all the way. Chris Waters has been fantastic and Alex in the design media team
any idea of a price ball park figure for the upper West stand to be done? I reckon with a little help from the right people, including the SMB, this could be achieved.

Goodison Park was another of his wasn't it?
As is the Stand at Somerset Park, Ayr. Got a lovely stained glass window in there as well.
Also - In 1971, Ayr United F.C. erected a roof to cover the Somerset Road End terrace at the cost £12,000.To celebrate the construction of the new roof, Ayr United invited Sunderland to play a friendly match - the result was a 1-1 draw.

aye, there's some bits of it in the car park down from the main entrance.
I'll need to go have a look, I didn't know that
