For those interested the lattice work was a dark green/blue/black right up until at least 1969/70. By 1974/75 it had changed to red and white. I have some old team photos in colour that demonstrates this.

Same engineer but I don't think did all these have lattice work. Everton and Glasgow Rangers definitely.

I dont think anyone did bar me. No one ever picked it up before. It came to my attention years ago when I got hold of an old issue of World Soccer from 1964 or so. shows Charlie Hurley in action at Roker Park v Blackburn Rovers. It was the first thing I noticed. No one has ever written the history of Roker Park and it would be an interesting project.Honestly never knew that. I always assumed it was red.
... ahead of Friday night's game against Doncaster the Red and White Army have installed Roker Park style latticework to the Roker End!
The Red and White Army have also added an additional 30 large flags to our collection and they will be on show on Friday night too.
Roker Park latticework makes a comeback - and MORE flags ordered in time for Sunderland v Donny
Anyone taking the flags needs shot with shite. Will there be a full scale mag style melt down when the flags are stolen/taken
Were the crash barriers the same colour and painted red later on too?I dont think anyone did bar me. No one ever picked it up before. Flags down Wembley looked class with the old Badge onThe old badge looks better than ever. Unfortunately SD stated it would cost too much money to change it back, but with the work being done buy RAWA, its making its own independent return. We just need to Rowell 78 kit for the away strip next season.
