Roker Park latticework makes a comeback...

Good effort to everyone involved. Seen a few, mainly on twitter but also a few on here, have a whinge about the whole thing which I can't understand at all. Offends no one and does look impressive, especially from the other side of the ground looking directly at the Roker End. Will be a brilliant display on Sky too.

Its just a shame we didn't incorporate the original ones into the stadium. Well done to everyone invilved though.
Agreed. The club has looked at it but they would have to be stripped back and totally refurbed.

This was a cost effective version of it and from the start we pushed for this. The club has given us advertising space that they could’ve easily sold instead. It’s fan led and the club top to bottom have helped all the way. Chris Waters has been fantastic and Alex in the design media team

It's great it's fan lead imo. Also it isn't compulsory to donate. The club have done great to improve the stadium, spending a small fortune on the seats

It's good practice for fan groups to not take money off a football club. If, hopefully not, one day there is cause to call out the club for whatever reason, it helps ensure independence.
It also gives fans something that is 'theirs' rather than the owners.

Will the lattice work be permanent? I’ve always thought that it would look class up on the west stand concourse bit, either that or some flags hanging over. Either way it’s quality, keep up the good work!

Hate to sound ungrateful, but I would have loved to see them on the Premier Concourse just like it was on the Main Stand Roker

a fair comment but the idea as things stand is to give us a proper 'home end' I think. It's also fairly pricey so the pros and cons have to be weighed up. This is the most cost effective way of incorporating the latticework into the stadium. The club provided advertising space and has given us guarantees that the space that has been used is ours to use.

There’s always the chance an company will want to advertise but it’s easier for us to argue to keep it for the fans now it’s up. Plus a company will probably shy away from the publicity of doing it. That’s the theory anyway

I’d love to see that along the west stand. Just comes down to money I suppose.

Preferred the lattice work when it was painted in black as it was in the 60's & 70's. Always associated it painted red as Roker was being chopped down and falling to bits.

Didn't know it was black originally....when did it change to red...I've been going since 75 and sure it was red then....or is this a whoosh
