I think my Dad's already posted on my account, but I used to stand away from him at the front of the Fullwell. I always remember a young lass, about my age, 13/14 at the time. She stood swinging on the barriers behind the goal. Seemed to have no interest in the football. I think she only attended because her family member was a steward.

During the Len Ashurst era (I'd have been about 12/13 when he got sacked) I can distinctly remember the name of one lad who stood at the front of the Fulwell End behind the goal.
PASTIE......he looked a few years older than me so possibly 15 or 16 in 84/85 and he would dash about all over the terracing well before kick-off....always 4 or 5 other lads about the same age.
I can't recall what he looked like but his name I've never forgotten.!!!
He was hard of hearing mate... think he was corned beef.

Different times. Me Dad, Granda and 3 or 4 of my Uncles from being about 5 -9.
Then, when we moved to Monkwearmouth, I can remember standing in the boys end with Bryan Man, Grant Allsopp and Colin Farley, maybe Jimmy Dodds.
Then back with me Dad, me cousin Kevin Gallagher , Jack Tench and Jimmy Carter snr, John Porter, maybe Ernie Davis once or twice.
Then, when my family came along, my son, then lots of his mates and cousins holding them on the barriers in front of the cage.
Then at the SOL Davy Hood Snr, and Jnr, Jordan Hood, Mick Brown and his lads, Paul and David.
Then me Dad n Uncle Billy again, Rob Swallwell, Tony Bebbington and Neil Ramsden.
And many more...., great memories, even when the footy was crap. FTM.

The Mick brown you mention, was he originally from Fishburn, if so it's him I have to thank for taking me in 1964 to my first match, I haven't seen him in about 40 odd years, last time was Gary Bennett's debut against Southampton ! If its the same Mick I'd love to meet up with him, top lad and a cracking footballer in his youth. FTM

Used to stand in the fullwell up the stairs turn left second barrier down (spelt Fulwell wrong mate)
Fulwell SR6 one l double ll 👍
Adore out like this
Mate another memory has just popped into my head.
Remember Man Utd ‘84 3-2 Walker hat trick.??

My mate who I went with was unable to go for some reason and I went alone thinking I’d see other lads from our way or school, never saw anyone I knew and ended up stood next to a father & son from Ashington, the lad was about my age, he was called Adam and his Da I’m sure was called Lenny, I saw them another couple of times that season when with my mates and got a hello and a wave off them…..didn’t see them again after that season, I don’t doubt they still attended, they must’ve been pretty staunch because in ‘84 it would’ve been a pure mission getting from Ashington to Roker and back to support the lads
Digressing a bit but talking about Roker Park, I hadn’t been over that way since the old ground was demolished but in 2020 my daughter was 21 and we ordered some cheesecakes of a lass on Instagram, she only lived in the end house on Sandringham Tce, which I believe was the club ticket office at one time.

Anyway, I decided when I went pick them up I was gonna drive along Fulwell Rd from the Bell and cut down by the Redby centre and pop out on Leeds St…..as near to the route I used to take getting off the bus at Elizabeth St and walking down over the little bridge and down to the ground.

It was totally surreal, eerie even, I just saw ghosts everywhere in my minds eye, unbelievable it was like 23 years or so since the old ground went, the memories just came flooding back……super nostalgic like……..and the cheesecakes were tremendous as well 👌

I remember one lad, back in the late 80's early 90's, quite a rotund fella, been about the same age as us late teens early 20's, he used get called Danny Mustard, and was always saying "...ah them Newcastle owa there.." looking shifty af

Did he used to stand in a doorway all the time round near the Terminus somewhere? Used to see this lad and never actually knew if he went to to the match as he was always in same spot before and straight after, he always used to ask if I’d seen any mags, travelling 200 miles from down down South I never did funnily enough.

Remember a lad from the Paddocks, always seem to be angry as fuck, had curly hair like Gordon Armstrong , remember him trying to get on the Pitch to charge Mags at one of the Derby games.

Another lad , skinhead bloke called Spider, didn’t know him but there’s was always someone walking past saying ‘alreet Spider’ so assume he was pretty well known.

Another couple of lads, one had a sovereign ring on every finger inc thumbs , used to bounce around , reminded me of a smaller Bez from Happy Mondays , only saw him at Roker couple of times, used to see him at away games more, used to knock about with big Tommy in his black trench coat and another biggish lad with blondy brown hair.

Always remember coming up for a Leeds game, bitof aggro in the New Derby and I swear a remember a Police horse actually coming in the pub, maybe just outside blocking the doors, anyway I saw two lads with SAFC tattooed on the foreheeds, not together, 2 diff lads, I’ve seen seen either at any game home or away since that night, and you would notice them, wierd stuff.

Always wear a cagoole, look like Arthur from on the buses.?? We called him Baz owl for some reason, think he had a twitch or summit. He wasn't all there if it's the same lad.
Yeah same lad remember him from around 1988-90 ish he was grossly overweight for his age. Got stuck in the turnstile once. Everyone seemed to know him. Think he was from Seaburn area one topic of conversation ' reckon the Mags will be coming through today' was definitely a bit simple.

Totally harmless never saw him again after 1990. Maybe the mags did come through that’s why he vanished.

Always in the Roker End.

Deffo him mate.looked like Arthur Mullard.
Some characters when you look back. I wouldn't change my youth for the world. Met and remained mates with loads of lads I wouldn't of had without the match.

Might have been him mate, when we used to run into him he would always ask the same thing about the mags

Spider is from South Hlyton and is fairly well known, loves Adolf Hitler.

We were just talking about this over Christmas, yes I and my sons made acquaintances on the Fulwell End, we used to go in at half one as soon as the gates opened so we could get a spot behind the barrier across the middle with the large step in front, thus allowing my small sons to see over the top of those in front, these spots were coveted and therefore we saw many of the same people game after game.
A few seasons ago at Brentford I got a tap on the shoulder and a big strapping six foot of a lad said hello and knew I didn’t recognise him, small wonder he was one of the *little lads* that stood next to us all those years ago 😁
I know the very deep step your on about, we were a bit further back.. Our lass was carried out of the Fulwell during one match after getting crushed, blacked out and the next thing out of the ground. She always blames me for that one.:)

Right Said Fred- bald bloke (who probably hadn't had his flu jab) who, every match, mentioned how none of our centre halves were as good as Joe Bolton.

Rab C Nesbitt - Grumpy Scottish bloke who always complained he couldn't see and that you were in 'his' spot on the Fulwell.

Used to stand in the Fulwell next to some of the shields lads, Harry, his son, Davey and Trigger, they were a f***ing hoot, had some brilliant stories

Funny accent IIRC? “Proowergrams, get yer match day proowergrams!”

And let’s not forget the ‘Viking’ who used to vend between Seaburn station and the Fulwell end.
Still see the "Viking" if its the same bloke ...I think he lives just off Sea Road

Not sure a like for your lasses misfortune was appropriate, but you get the sentiment 😉
