Roker End Stewarding

Loads of parents, me included, going mental with the stewards tonight after young kids were prevented from returning to their seats.

For my 10 year old, he went to the front at half time to go and see his cousin who sits at the end of the same f***ing block and wasn't allowed back.

Physically prevented by a steward until I spotted what was going on.

Other kids not allowed back to their parents after going to the toilet etc.

It's not good enough. These kids aren't even old enough to have an apple or Google wallet to even have their own digital tickets they insist on us using to be able to show anyone.

Keep in mind a large section of the *family stand* is in the Roker End.

The pettifogging rules around the Roker End are already frustrating enough. You now aren't even allowed to walk through the doors in the concourse, they tell you to walk into the stand and back down again. Unlocking your phone to show your ticket when carrying food and drink or wearing gloves a massive pain.

But they are minor gripes compared to treatment of young kids in the *family stand* - mine was actually panicked and crying and still wasn't allowed through until I intervened.

All of these made up pointless rules around the Roker End are supposedly there for health and safety - I'm not sure how health and safety conscious it is to treat kids like this.

Sort it out SAFC.

That doesn't sound legal

You can't separate kids that young from parents, its a safeguarding issue.

When there was all the Ticketmaster hassle at the start of last year it was happening when some stc worked and some didnt meaning kids and parents were getting separated.

The stewards were being arseholes until some senior steward lass came over and went ballistic about it and got all the families reunited

I’ve noticed a few wifeys walking about the past few matches with SAFEGUARDING on the back of their coats …. The club is just creating issues for no reason. Farcical at times
Anyone that witnessed this or anyone directly involved must let Steve Neil know 👍

Why? He won’t do anything as has been proven many times before.

The stewards are being told to something that is not enforceable by any law. You do not have to show your phone after you have accessed the ground.
They cannot demand to see it; you can politely show it if requested or not if you don’t want to.

What they need to do is make that area segregated so no in no out and it stops all this shit. They have a barrier they can pull out if they so desire to stop half arsing this shit

Also on grown adult can lay a hand on a 10yr old child. They could possibly ask to point their parent out but that seems to simple

Aye.

And yet it was the worst ive seen tonight for random people just wandering around looking for seats in the south.

I dont want to be stuck in the stand, i like going and having a bit of crack at half time with some mates in other stands, im fine showing my STC on the way back in.
It probably isn't.

They're bullies. You won't see them manhandling anyone over the age of 20.

It absolutely isnt

I hadn't read to this bit, sorry to hear this marra, how f***ing awful. Can't imagine how I'd react if i had a bairn and some hi visibility low personality **** was making him or her cry.

Its not even a pointless health and safety rule, preventing 10 year olds from getting back to their parents it's literally a safeguarding risk and cpuld get the club in serious bother - if anyone took the safety of football fans seriously. Imagine going to the pictures and being tret how we are at football 🤔

Great win and thoroughly enjoyed the match, but on the negative side there's a few stupid rules in place now that are making the match more difficult, apparently under 14s have to be accompanied by an adult at all times so no running to the bog or nipping down to get some chocolate, its a safe enclosed environment so shouldn't be an issue. My son goes to the match with his mates and they got stopped at the turnstile and said they needed an adult, they were all 14 at the time, they had to sneak in another turnstile. An unrelated gripe I went for a bottle at half time and there was no queue at a bar, I asked for drinks and the bloke said he can't take my order and I had to use the kiosk on the wall, used the kiosk and handed the same bloke a receipt and he gave me the drinks, what a waste of everyone's time

It is safeguarding, unfortunately it’s the times we live in, No U24’s allowed in without an adult.
Those are the rules, gone are the days of rocking up at the Fulwell with mates when you were still in primary school.

The leaky north west corner roof, no working hand dryer in the bog, and the bar area closed off. Utter disgrace. Would cost them about ÂŁ100 to pay some staff for the game to open the bar ffs

Errr the parents let there kids wander off alone on this one mate...

Lots of kids causing bother, sitting in seats that aren't theirs and thus causing issues on the concourse with numbers. Seen a few kids being challenged about tickets, most from what I saw didn't have seats in south stand and were asked to go back to their seats. I understand why the club do it, but also think a lot of the time there is no common sense used by people. If you are in the 'Roker End' then expect to be asked to produce ticket, it takes 2 seconds and stops any issues. If people/kids go away from seats then they either need to explain to stewards or have a ticket to show. Unfotunatly its other sunderland fans that have caused the issue in the first place.

Same again tonight when someone in the South Stand threw a bottle, which hit another fan on the head. Thankfully it was empty so no damage done, but not needed.

Wouldn't be letting my bairn walk about a packed stadium at 9pm like, especially with all the pissheads stumbling about. Not so bad during the day, but at night no chance. Sounds more like You caused the issues for not knowing the rules properly. Perhaps you should read the rules more closely and keep your kids with you at all times instead of letting them swan about like they own the fkn place.

If your kid had gone missing who would you have blamed? Stewards?

THEY'RE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO LOOK AFTER. LOOK AFTER THEM.
