Roker Beach, New Restaurant?

Aren’t these places as much to do with the wine they serve as they are the food? Aren’t They modern versions of trendy wine bars more for socialising than having a full meal?

I would presume / hope that the cheeses and meats are a bit higher quality than what you could get in your local supermarket.

Dairy lea triangles, baby bell and philedipdia I heard

Are you and Moo having a competition to see who can put the most words into someone else’s mouth?

Bad examples there like. Most people can’t knock up good quality pizza or restaurant quality pasta at home, quickly. Same with steaks, it’s not hard to cook one but most people can’t mimic miller and carter. Sunday dinners are the one thing where I’d say a decent % of people can do better than a carvery. If you want to pay a massive markup for someone to arrange pre prepared ham and cheese for you that’s up to you. I wish them well but I genuinely don’t see the value add, just my opinion but I think it’s a gimmick.
Not bad examples at all, I've got a pizza oven and pizza stone and can knock up pizzas which would stand up against a lot I've had in restaurants, and anyone with a basic it of cookery skills could rustle up a decent pasta dish. You can get decent steaks from any local butcher, even the dry aged ones from the likes of Aldi are really good quality, and again, its not exactly hard work to knock up some sauces to go with it and providing you have a deep fat fryer you can knock up some cracking chips. Why would i ever eat any of those things out and about in restaurants?

Its not about the food, but the occasion, actually getting out the house, relaxing, change of scenery, not having dishes to wash up, socializing with friends...and buildings, staff wages etc are not cheap so that's why people pay a mark up on food. Do people expect to pay same prices for food they can prepare for themselves.

If the thoughts of the SMB are representative of the Sunderland population is no surprise that new ventures fail in this city, and the likes of wetherspoons, Sinatras, Josephs all thrive, serving shite for cheap in shit surroundings.

OK mate, you enjoy your platter and I'll get meself down to spoons because I know no better :)

Everyone doesn't call it Jimmy's. He just so happens to be friendly with people on here. I know he's called Jimmy and I've probably been once in the last year. How often have you been?

People know his name because it's mentioned on social media and that. I eat in Roma more regularly and have no idea what the fella who runs it is called.
Shaz and Mehmet are the two owners ;)

He might want to think about tidying up his social media image if he wants to appeal to the charcuterie sorts...
He's only part of the ownership group, and his ability to knock out decent drinks, bait and provide a nice environment would be far up on my priority list to put me off going than seeing him with Tommy Robinson. I dont think his beliefs will be forced upon you in his establishment.
