Could become a real star in this league or the one below. People will start calling him Godwell

He needs to be f***ing Godwell for the wages he'll be pulling in but frankly I can't see it, he might do alright, but if the figure of 65k/week is true then alright isn't good enough, he needs to be the engine that makes our mid field tick and I'd be my last f***ing penny that he won't be anything close to that

If his wages or crapness annoy you all then you should see his missus - I'd let her take a dump on me tbh

Surprised he s married
Looks like the kind of space cadet bloke who'd forget his own wedding

I'm not saying he's good, there's a difference. I'm just saying the way people go on about him is just ridiculous, i can think of far worse than Rodwell that's played for us.
Like who?

I cant think of anyone that will have cost us £26M. If we'd paid £1m for him he would still have been a really shit signing, the fact he will cost us 26 times that puts him in a league all of his own.

Nah he's nowhere near that bad. He's had more than a few decent games for us and maybe he should just go around kicking people picking up cards maybe that would appease people for paying 10 million quid.

He didn't attempt to make one single tackle in 180 minutes, do you think that's good for a midfielder.

He is simply not good enough and grossly overpaid, a terrible woeful acquisition. Very happy they removed that poster of him at Newcastle airport, that irked me

People saying he's scared of the ball confuse me. He's really comfortable on the ball with both feet. Able to take it under pressure and make himself a yard of space. He's also the only midfielder who even attempts to get into the box from our regular midfield.
He's probably the 4th most creative player we have in the squad (says a lot about the squad). He's not a hard tackler and I think due to his injuries he's wary of getting stuck in. But his positioning in the pitch is usually sound.
Also remember Pickford picked him out of the entire squad to be in his 5 aside team and said he had everything. Unless this was just a huge in joke.
Massive season for him this one but I can see him being our man in the hole once lens leaves.
Ignoring all the other rubbish, and assuming this isn't a windup, why would a defensive minded midfielder who started as a centre back, with a poor goalscoring record and lack of imagination play in the hole?

Can he not be just gotten rid of on a free transfer ? Made of glass, absolute waste of a wage

if our finances are really that bad shouldnt we be doing everything possible to get him off the wage bill? surely someone could be suckered into a free deal or a loan?

seems like a decent lad but he will never contribute to any promotion push in a good way

Like whose going to sign him even on a free? He's on 60-70k per week and made of glass. No club in their right mind would sign him!

if he is good at 5 aside that would make sense, no big tackles flying in , less space to run about and get injured

could well have great technique but you need to be able to do it in games otherwise its irrelevant.
He's supposed to be one of the best at the club in training.
I agree with Jonny that he's a big, athletically-built lad who can kick with both feet, but twiglet is spot on in his assessment.
The way Rodwell moves to prevent himself receiving the ball is a masterclass in avoiding being involved.
There is definitely a player buried in there somewhere though, but it's been hidden so long it might take a hell of a lot of digging up, and he's certainly not got the mentally toughness needed for us in relegation battles since he signed.
With the wages he's bleeding from the club and no-one likely to take a risk on him based on anything he's done for us, we need to hope and pray that with a confident team around him, winning a few games, might give him confidence to come out of his shell.

Thats what he does do though. Just hangs round near opposition players so no one can pass to him and jogging around midfield trying to look busy not tracking back or getting forward. Then he puts in a silly challenge to look like hes done something, gets booked and drifts out the game again. Hes a waste of a shirt and worse a shirker.

Because he's the most attack minded of the central midfielders we have.
I don't think he's a super star but I don't think he's as bad as is made out on here.
Value for money wise he's been shocking so far and it's unlikely he'll prove to be value for money in this league. He'd need to dominate games and get double figures which I just can't see happening.

The game last season where his first effort was a knee high tackle which earned him a yellow from the ref, and an ironic round of applause from us fans, absolutely highlights this.

Our last 3 managers have all had him in the starting 11 for most of the season so he must be doing something right in training.

Tbf to Rodwell, it can't be easy playing in this team. They've all been shite. His confidence has been shot to bits since the injury. Hopefully this year he plays well and we get the Rodwell that Man City paid a fortune for.

Got ourselves a delusional one here lads!

And with your intial stat of 3 managers having him in the team for most of the season, apart from being incorrect, in ALL those matches you’re thinking of, I think we won one of them. One.
