Rodwell

I saw Messi and Ronaldo missing good chances recently. We should make a thread about them, not only about the easy target Rodwell.
Hold on, your post implies I suggested something I never did, interesting you didn't reply to my point where I said him f***ing up two good chances wasn't great or where I said if I was wrong I'd stand corrected. You didn't do. anything to make me stand corrected tbf.
I've never said, as you implied that I thought he was Messi either.

No, he was signed on an opinion that turned out wrong, how can you come to your assumption , no basis in fact ?

Course he was signed on reputation, young engerland international, next George Best etc etc and 8 million wasted.

I hate to think whose opinion he was signed on, because he was shit

Must have been reputation FFS without actually watching the useless **** for a sustained period

Otherwise the mind boggles ! ;)

Hes got his own agenda Janey as Ive tried to point out in my previous posting

Rodwell should have scored, but the team looked better when he came on, dearie me we lost because POV can't defend

People assumed that he'd been scouted to some degree. Clearly he hadn't been. He was signed on his 'reputation' which was essentially created by the media.
But that still isn't his fault, yet that is what he continues to be judged on. I'm no Rodwell apologist believe me, but I don't blame him for signing a contract that made him rich. I blame the people who offered the contract, though the signing was supported by most Sunderland fans at the time.

I've already covered that point. Also I don't blame him for not being good enough. He's done nothing to earn a place in the side, yet continues to make the subs bench.

I've never said otherwise, all I've said is he's an easy target to make the scapegoat.

Agree. It would easy to make Defoe the target after his misses today. But Rodwell (rightly so in a lot of circumstances) is an easy fall guy

And before any of the Rodwell haters respond, Im not advocating he deserves a regular starting place

Better post if you had left out the part in the brackets, and the final point, if you have a point to make....have the courage

Yes, people had their own agendas against Jozy, Graham, Vergini and other crap players. Rodwell is an asset, but some just don't want to spin his dreadful 2 missed in a positive way, the silly haters. Let's give Rodwell the armband on Tuesday!

Carry on. Point is today. He was better than Catts imo. And catts would never have been in those positions to fuck it up

Nobodyb now saying he's great. I'm certainly not, I just think it's easy to blame him.

This is why I did the OP, no eloquent, balanced or anything else but simply because I was pissed off about the miss. It was easier than a penalty bit, if we'd been given one of those the misser wouldn't have been praised on here, I bet.

Mate you could have dragged one of us out the stand and we'd have buried the fucker. Waste of space.

Who said give him the armband?

I'm going to put it out there. Who was better than Rodwell in the last thirty minutes? Irrespective of the misses, he was the most industrious player on the pitch and we looked far more dangerous with him than without.

Watch it again man. His shots were on target at least. Keeper got lucky... On another day it would have went in.

I know he's been here nearly two seasons but give the lad a chance. He did a job against man Utd and he was involved in a lot of action in the hammers box today. There is a good player in there but unfortunately it's similar to Kirchhoff injuries are preventing him getting a good run of games. Self confidence plays a big part in players performances. I think that is all Rodwell needs to be an asset to the team. If Sam didn't think he had quality he wouldn't be anywhere near the first team squad surely. I'd prefer Sams opinion of his ability than someone who doesn't see him in training day in day out.
