Nobody will take on any shots and pass responsibility with this sort of attitude. He did okay, he got into the positions which is a good start.

We've got 11 games left man and he's been here 18 months. We simply can't afford to miss those sort of chances (chances we've missed all season) as we are always going to concede. I'm all for the plucky underdog but this c unt was supposed to be the finished article, not a bairn we have to wrap in cotton wool.

If what is typed on here would affect players taking a shot then they're not clt out for this profession or what we need.

Thought he looked great when he came on. Was unlucky with his couple of chances then had another nicked off his toe by arguably the best player on the pitch when he took too much time. His shots were on target, unlike those that fell to Defoe. I think he's starting to look like the player we paid a stupid fee for. There were at least half a dozen worse players than him playing for us today. This place beggars belief sometimes. He covered more ground in 30 minutes than Mvilla did in 90. It's no f*cking wonder the lad looks scared to play it he reads some of the bilious sh*te on here.

It's my fault he's been shite for the entire time he's been here, sorry. I promise I won't mention him again and he will flourish

Normally agree with the op, but Fuck off? he'd be starting for me Tuesday night. Offered more going forward from midfield, than any of the others. At least he was getting in positions to miss, rather than being 30 yards away from the striker.

Should of scored the first one, but the second was a brilliant challenge from their lad.

I would prefer us to start with 11 men.

Cattermole was non existent. He simply can't play the role he is being asked to.

Needs dropping

With Kirchhoff and Mvilla there is no spot for Cattermole. He's 3rdchoice where we only need 2. Think Borini has the energy to play where Cattermole started and offers more of an attacking threat.

I thought he'd looked like he's lost about a stone and looked far sharper for it. Definitely start him instead of catts on Tuesday, he provides far more threat going forward and that's what we'll need come Tuesday.

Totally agree JJR. Some are crucifying him for his miss but at least he was in a position to miss (if that makes sense!). Catts wouldn't have been there or totally fucked up. Having said that I dont know why sam played Catts so far forward, I would hazard a guess that Catts was probably a bit bemused by that decision as he will probably agree that his best position is playing deeper

Totally agree, if BSA is going to persist with similar formation on Tuesday that Rodwell is probably better option. This will no doubt upset the Rodwell haters

IMO he's more effective than catts in said position though

How is he more effective? He was evidently told to get into the box and fucked up when he did. If he'd have been told to sit and did it, then fucked-up at a crucial moment would people say he was effective?

Rodwell offered more going forward than any of the other midfielders. No getting away from he's been crap since he came, but this thread is just to crucify him for the sake of it a bit. We looked better in the middle and certainly offered more going forward with him there. The gap between the midfield and Defoe was ridiculous and he came on and improved us I thought. 100% start him for cattermole on Tuesday for me.

Not that Im blaming catts.

But fuck me Rodwell if BETTER then, effective is probably wrong word to use, than Catts will ever be played in that forward role

Funny how the Invisible man suddenly has fans just because he completely fucked up two clear cut chances in the space of a few minutes.:lol: He could become a cult hero if he makes a few mistakes on Tuesday.

Im not a great fan of Rodwell, he's been a waste of money, but just stating the obvious after watching todays game

This is my point mate. People are saying he did well for f***ing up. "At least he was in the position to fuck up". Class, he was on the pitch and wandered into the box as he was told. Then, missed a chance which was better than a penalty.
I don't see many defending PVA for being in his correct position before giving the ball away for the goal.

Not for me mate. He's generally anonymous.
I honestly don't know what the answer is mind, maybe a 4-4-1-1 with Defoe just dropping off N'Doye (who definitely isn't a Winger)?
Our main, almost only threat is the ball over the top for Defoe. He needs to be on the last man. N'Doye was shite today and I would drop him for Borini if anything, then rodwell for cattermole.

The same Cattermole who almost got two great assists for Defoe?!
