Rodwell

I said on the match thread, he's never looked interested in playing football again to me. The two missed chances summed up his entire time here. Timid, hesitant and not really bothered.
The lad needs to decide what he wants.
I thought the opposite when he came on against West Ham, for the first time he looked like he was trying to make a difference but sadly a lack of quality when it mattered.

He got on the pitch when we started pressing them, he got at the end of passes and fucked up. He scored 0 goals with his feet in 18 months, I can see him missing for fun if he gets chances and that's when he's not invisible/useless for 89 minutes. Larsson, Lens, Kharzi all should play there before him

Remind me how many Cattermole has scored for us in six years.

I'm far more a Catts fan than a Rodwell fan, but Rodwell might possibly be better going forward (because Catts freaks me out when he has the ball). That said, why not have M'vila be the attacking option of the three?
Not related, but I think West Ham would not have scored that goal had Borini been playing. I know he's not been playing well, but it probably beats N'Doye playing out of position.

Despite missing the two chances (although one was a good tackle?) he changed the game for the better and was very positive when he came on. He probably deserves to start on the back of his last two performances compared to Cattermole's form.

Really? I wouldn't even trust him with trolly retrieval duties at Tesco.
Cattermole has been anonymous for weeks, months even. He's really not having a good season after two excellent ones. Rodwell has primarily been invisible in his time here but in the last two games he's shown something and on Saturday he turned the momentum back in our favour to almost get something out of it. We're going to need that attacking intent.

He set up Defoe for 2 great chances, and against Man Utd did the same.

Rodwell has literally had 20 mins of good play in about the last year

SAFC fans are the worst at getting carried away

He couldn't even get in the squad a few weeks ago

Thought he did better at the weekend.

Cattermole needs to be finally peddled. Utter f***ing dross. Marks nobody constantly allowing the opposition a free pass every f***ing time. Looks like a 5 year old boy running through treacle too. Offers fuck all. I'll give him a little credit as it looks like he tries to play through balls for Defoe, like Johnson used to but without the skill.

Least Rodwell can be a danger in and around the opposition box.

What he was doing last year is completely irrelevant. He has played well in his last two appearances. He has had a positive impact on the team. Cattermole (I like him and always been vocal about that on here btw) isn't playing well and imo isn't suited to the role he's been asked to do.

A danger to himself maybe.

Nobody's getting carried away mate, I just liked what I saw from him in the last two games and think he deserves a start, particularly as Catts looks so jaded at the moment. I wonder if Cattermole's back injury is still giving him bother, that's the only reason I can think for why he's been so off the pace this season.

Because we were going for the win there was no point in selecting Cattermole.Sam needs to start picking a more attacking team so Rodwell before Cattermole for the rest of the season

Rodwell's strength was always the timing of his runs into the box. The Rodwell of old would be better for the advanced midfielder role and he showed a bit of this on Saturday. The Rodwell of recent wouldn't get a game. It would be a gamble picking Rodwell from the start because of this. I'd give him another chance of coming on as sub but not pick him from the start until we see the finished product. Id be more tempted by Larsson - his distribution going forward is better, he's another option at set pieces and he has a goal in him.
