Rodwell

I'm going to put it out there. Who was better than Rodwell in the last thirty minutes? Irrespective of the misses, he was the most industrious player on the pitch and we looked far more dangerous with him than without.

Watch it again man. His shots were on target at least. Keeper got lucky... On another day it would have went in.
That's his quality being in the right place in the attacking third. He will get his fair share of goals and assists with a run of games. You can't expect any player to play say one in five games and be on top of their game in that one game that's ridiculous.

Cattermole was non existent. He simply can't play the role he is being asked to.

Needs dropping
I missed the first 35 mins and have to say that other than during the half-time analysis Catts name was barely mentioned until he went off. Seems lost in his position and not able to get into the game. Obviously, the fact that he was mentioned three times for poor balls in the analysis suggests he started well. When Lens is fit, I'd give him a go there as he chas more natural attacking ability, and we won't lose much defensively as Catts didn't do a lot in that area.

I know he's been here nearly two seasons but give the lad a chance. He did a job against man Utd and he was involved in a lot of action in the hammers box today. There is a good player in there but unfortunately it's similar to Kirchhoff injuries are preventing him getting a good run of games. Self confidence plays a big part in players performances. I think that is all Rodwell needs to be an asset to the team. If Sam didn't think he had quality he wouldn't be anywhere near the first team squad surely. I'd prefer Sams opinion of his ability than someone who doesn't see him in training day in day out.
Kirchhoff is light years ahead of Rodwell in every aspect of the game, no matter how many injuries he had. I don't know why are you even using them in the same sentence. The same argument about confidence was used in the case of Jozy. He was just crap at this level, same as Rodwell. And even if the lack of confidence is preventing them to be better than crap, they still are crap players at this level, because mental strenght is essential in the top European leagues.

Funny how the Invisible man suddenly has fans just because he completely fucked up two clear cut chances in the space of a few minutes.:lol: He could become a cult hero if he makes a few mistakes on Tuesday.
I don't see people thinking he's turned a corner based on one game.
I see people rightly saying that he had a decent game when he came on. He should have scored, of course, but otherwise his contribution was a pretty decent one.

He couldn't score a single goal with his feet in 18 months despite being in the right place and I haven't seen him splitting defences with his passes. He scored two goals with his head and one with his arm. But you can dream about scoring and assisting for fun.

Sorry but I don't agree. Each has their own strengths, for a start Kirchhoff is not as fast and mobile as Rodwell. Rodwell is an attacking midfielder Kirchhoff is defensive. Mental strength comes from playing games and keeping fit. The more consecutive games you play the more confidence you get. Look at Leicester for example they haven't got the quality of squad as man city, Arsenal, etc but because they have used only a small squad of players this season their confidence as individual players is tremendous.

Rodwell showed no strenghts in 18 months. I'm still waiting to see what does he do. And no, he isn't an attacking player. He doesn't score much, he isn't creative enough, he doesn't pass that well.

Not keen on Rodwell myself but he made a big difference when he came on. How much of that was due to tired opposition legs. ..?? Benefit of the doubt.. I thought he did ok.

Carried the ball forward and got their defence on the back foot.

I'd start him against Palace.

Hopefully rodwell and Kirchhoff will be regulars for the rest of the season and we will all see what their contributions are, good or bad. It's not as if they are regulars now and strolling around not giving a toss. Both are just young lads and this will be probably their last chance to be successful in the game. I hope they prove a lot of doubters wrong for our sake.

Why bother?
Sorry fergus lad been out with injuries last six months. Just give me a few consecutive replies and I'll be back on top of my game!

I just have. He got to the second shot before the defender and sky'd it.

Sam seems to think he has a future on present evidence, no brainier his confidence is shot so he isn't in the front line. Seems to be first alternative to bring on

I suggest you watch it again.
Ok would have been a corner otherwise but they met ball at more or less same time

Time is immaterial you should compare goals against minutes on the pitch.
