Roberts

Ba done well out there, notched up a goal and assist or two but as soon as he has an average ish game he's out of the team while Roberts can play 4 or 5 games being ineffective without being dropped.

Thought Ba was poor last night, difficult coming on but his touch looked well off and seemed to get the trapped underneath him a few times too

The value to the team of Clarke and Roberts would be improved immeasurably if they learned when to lay the ball off to a team mate occasionally.
They would both improve their value to the team by using their weaker side more often. I noticed Roberts put one good cross in with his right foot and Clarke tried to go outside a couple of times. Once bringing a good save off the keeper. Teams who don't want to play football against us just double up on the wings in the knowledge that it limits out attacking options, they are also now aware that both wingers much prefer to cut inside onto their strongest foot.

Tries to use his skills to dance past people but 9/10 it doesn't work. They all have to be on the same wave length and pass for each other, they are more static than anything else though. It's hard to see how the young lads are going to be sold for a profit because they are always on the bench.

He beats his man a lot more often than that like. You aren't much of a realist coming out with that

Honestly we should have sold him to Southampton when we could have.
The biggest thing for me is Robert’s plays way to deep and people say he was brilliant with Diallo he was great with him, but players like Diallo are very few and far between.

He’s going through a very poor spell and couldn’t really argue if he was dropped.

The problem we’ve got is there’s no obvious like for like replacement.

Ba has shown fleeting glimpses of form but hasn’t set the world alight in recent cameos.

If he drops Roberts we’d need a complete change in set up - maybe try 352 but I don’t see him going for that away at Millwall.

Lihadji was the apprentice but was dispatched when it became apparent he was as strong as piss putty.

Does nothing for me like, don't see the obsession. He doesn't even pull 2 players away to mark him anymore, which was always my defense of him. He doesn't suit the style of play we play at all, snatches at chances, and games often pass him by. I'd rather Ba or Adil play, they've made far more of an impact than him across the limited play time they've had.
I’d play Mayenda there

He needs to do much more.

But specific to the Huddersfield game, putting Seelt at right back was inexplicable by TM. The guy is a CB and you could see how out of his depth he was on the right. Our wingers at a minimum need a credible second wide sided player in the team to overlap and distract defenders. The moment Seelt was picked Roberts was hugely handicapped.

our tactics are pretty horrendous in reality...its give the ball to Clarke or Roberts........but then we

1. Dont have any full backs in support or overlapping
2. They both play on the wing on their wrong preferred foot, which makes them cut in rather than go past defender and cross it......by cutting in they negate any runs forwards/midfielders make into the box looking for a cross ......and to make it worse teams expect them to cut in thus they marshal a brick wall for them to run into

The discussion is always Ba or Roberts. We have Aouchiche, Rusyn even Mayenda who looked good out wide right Wednesday night, that could be tried and prove more effective in that position

Can you please explain why Roberts is in the team. Week in week out he gets the ball and runs, thus ends with him running into a defender, producing a pass that is so late because he realises he is about to run into a player or he just shoots nowhere near the goal. 17 games and he has zero goals, zero assists.
Why does no-one appreciate how good it is for the team to have someone who can go past defenders and get the team up the pitch in seconds. It puts fear and doubt in opponents, stretches them and gains yards. Yes it would be nice to have a goal or two but it doesn't lessen what he does for the team when on form without the goals.

You have to appreciate some on here have only played footy in the play yard.
