Roberto Martinez

He won the FA cup with Wigan. Tournament football is mostly about winning knockout games so it does make sense that an international team would look at him imo.

They also got relegated and never looked remotely organised. Excuse after excuse about selling players, in reality he wasted most of the money he had and spent around the same amount he sold, often on complete shit.

Got lucky getting the Everton job and as the solid basis left for him gradually eroded he was found wanting.

He won't be relegated with Belgium and he doesn't need to buy players for Belgium so your points are pointless tbh. Winning the FA cup with Wigan is an unbelievable achievement and every Wigan fan would take that rather than scraping survival in the PL for a couple of extra seasons before inevitably being relegated.

He's an okay manager at best, nowt special but I can see why appointing someone who has proving himself as a good cup manager could be a good idea for an international team.

Totally outplayed there, they'll win fuck all with that bottle job imo. Wasted their golden generation.

Can't see them getting past Italy.
Was more Wilmots who wasted them. Quarters in 2014 and 2016

Martinez got them 3rd in his first opportunity only losing narrowly to France in the semis.

It remains to be seen how they will do in this tournament.

Always remember when we beat Everton to stay up and the Everton fans above us to in the North Stand couldn't wait to see the back of him.

They’ll win fuck all with that defence man. Panicking like fuck for the last half hour
Biggest problem I see with him as a manager. His total blind spot. Cannot set up a defence. Plus has never seem to learn from it. Or find someone who can

You could argue it’s cause he’s got an ageing defence but then every team he’s managed seems to have a panicky back line

They have decent defensive record
No wonder you hate a former Everton manager, son.
How do you work that out

How does his record of winning knock out competitions compare to that of say, Southgate, who is apparently a genius of international football?
Still took Wigan down
Southgate won nowt at Boro and relegated them….

Individually I don’t think they’re that great like. They haven’t got many ‘world class’ players or even any at all
Courtois, de bruyne, hazard and lukaku would walk into every other team in the tournament so I’d put them in the top bracket.
