Robert De Niro destroying his legacy

He's part of a generation of actors that will be sorely missed when they're gone, De Niro, Morgan freeman, Clint Eastwood, Samuel L Jackson, Jack nicholson. Who's replacing them, the rock, Tom Hardy?
There's still some decent actors, problem is more on Hollywood imo. Most directors are poor and only interested in doing blockbusters, superhero films or remakes/sequels/prequels in an attempt to make as much money as quickly as possible.

If you look at all the great films of the past they cover all sorts of genres and a lot where dramas. You barely get any released at the pictures anymore and have to rely on straight to Netflix/Amazon films.

A lot of the best films like that are also independent movies or foreign movies that for the most part people havent heard of.

A lot of the best actors tend to make their name in TV thesedays and move into movies after as well.
Dicaprio is a better actor
Nah, hes class but he hasn't got anything close to Godfather II, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Deer Hunter like performances. Not even close imo.

He is class in the departed. Up there with anything DeNiro has done imo.

I wasn't criticising it but I believe that was the first of his production projects, but to fund that sideline he took on more and more unlikely films.
Ah right. I misunderstood. I dare say some of those crap films were some of his most lucrative.
Always thought of DiCaprio as an average pretty boy actor but then really enjoyed blood diamond, catch me if you can, the great gatsby and wolf of Wall Street and changed my view of him, he's actually made some very good films.
I've just went through his filmography on IMDB and there are a few of his films I haven't seen but of the ones I have seen I haven't seen a bad one.

He got his first Oscar nominee at 20 for The Basketball Diaries, then 3 years later was the lead role in the most successful film at the Oscars ever. He’s second only to Jack Nicholson for acting in the most films to receive Best Picture nominations.

He’s still got a few months on Blep as well at 46.

the basketball diaries, gangs of new york, titanic, the aviator, romeo and Juliet, inception

the résumé, as they would say, is equal to none. but not as iconic as RDN

Has anyone seen The Comedian. Got a superb cast. I really need to catch up on some of his films. There was a time when i had watched everything he had done from Greetings through to Analyze This, then kind of gave up.

Don’t care how many shit films he appears in, and I don’t like most or even all of the comedies he does, he’ll always be a legend for Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, A Bronx Tale, Goodfellas and Casino.
