Rob Mason

The match programme wins awards season after season and has done for years. It is far better than many other programmes and one of the very few things the club does well. I dont know Rob Mason personally but his love of the club is clear and now theyre going to outsource it to someone who couldnt give a shit about SAFC. Disgraceful.
#UnityinStrength my arse the club is ran by arseholes who know the value of nothing.

Not saying he would want it but if his job is continuing just somewhere else then TUPE could at least cloud the position enough to give him an angle on the club.

Yes I know that location as well as loads of other things come into TUPE but the regs are a nightmare even the most competent legal eagles say are 'grey'

Anyway back to it hope it all works out for the fella

He'll probably get enough of a pay off to pay no mind to regs. He'll crop up as a freelance journo somewhere.

Didn't know that.
Probably just going to go to a very basic outsourced generic thing then? Or maybe try and get someone to do it part time.

It'll be all hashtags and wank branding. Unity in faith. Fuck off you dopey wankers.

Rob is a top bloke. I used to work with a fella whose uncle, Geoff Butler, turned out for us in the 1960's. As a result, I got in touch with Rob to say I could maybe line something up for the 'looking for the lads' section of the programme.

He was such a nice guy and so thankful. The interview and subsequent piece didn't happen for quite a few months, but he emailed me afterwards again to say thanks, which was appreciated. He didn't need to, having thanked me at the outset, but he did nonetheless.

That's the sort of bloke you'd be losing SAFC; have a think about that before you employ some faceless company to turn out identikit shite. I still recall the f***ing farce that was outsourcing our retail arm to kitbag, which I understand was a disaster. Even now bairns all over the NE can't get an SAFC top anywhere other than the club shop, whereas Newcastle shirts are like shit in a field.

What's all that about mate? (sorry, haven't read thread)

Sacking the guy who writes the programme? FFS :D

Still, Ellis did once get the curries in at the Shag

To be honest, I'd have an easier time accepting all these decisions if the same due process and research was done at club level. Bringing those 2 lads in from Everton in January is a prime example of one rule for the playing side and manager, and another for all other staff at the club. Just my opinion mind.

An excellent point. I posted on here a couple of years ago after working down Bishop Auckland and the small, independent sports shop has Newcastle kits advertised in the window, without a hint of ours (as nowhere else is allowed to sell it) and then a big Sports Ditect which obviously has and this, goes to further highlight the narrow-minded, small-time thinking of the clowns running the show. Fuck losing young fans as long as they get their share of shirt sales from their own outlets. The bellends then decide to go on a stupid, far flung tour of America, trying to drum-up support.

It's ridiculous. Only place to buy an SAFC shirt is Sunderland or Washington, or online.

I recall buying my dad the Reg Vardy Asics one from McGurk's in Newcastle. You used to be able to get them all over.

Good point like, when you really think about it, never ever see them in shops, even in Durham.

My understanding is that the pay offs to all staff losing their job is derisory to say the least.

Is that not because before the adidas deal Sports Direct etc etc were making their cut of money from selling our strips but now SAFC take the lot as the sales are exclusive to the club?

I think it is but surely its better to be represented elsewhere? If you go to any split town in the north east, there are Newcastle kits available to buy and in shop windows with no representation of Sunderland at all.

By law I believe it is the equivalent of one weeks pay at the point nearest leaving multiplied by years service under 40. Over 40 it's multiplied by service by last pay by 1.5. However none of that kicks in until after 2 years and god knows what happens with zero hours contracts n shit
