An absolute top bloke and it was a pleasure to know you. I got told the news earlier today and was stunned. I text him last night and again this morning as it was very out of character for him not to be at the match yesterday. I gone back on my phone and read that text about 50 times. I'm absolutely gutted. RIP fella.

Passed away early hours this morning. I've lost a good friend, SAFC and this board have lost an unbelievable fan, who dedicated a huge chunk of his life following SAFC. I'm gutted beyond words. RIP Steve mate xx

Didn't know the lad personally but exchanged a variety of pm's about SAFC.

His zest for life shone through and his love for the club and fans.

I vividly recall him saying his whole reason d'etre was just to enjoy his time here and not take it all too seriously.

Am so sorry for your loss mate and for everyone who knew him and his family. Fuck.

Although I didn’t have the opportunity to meet the man in person I respected him as he was obviously a genuine fan.

I can’t ever remember him lowering his high standards when he swatted away with ease the mags, WUMs and general spenks who regularly turn up here.

RIP Maximus I will miss his contribution to these boards.
