I honestly don't know which is which.. Can't stomach to watch those shows with real estate professionals in them. I like the Holmes on Homes type show.

I do though, do a shit ton more work than an Estate Agent, I was shocked by just how little UK agents have to do to get a house sold and get paid. Its no surprise why US agents make so much more money.

I like the two brothers. They are much more personable than any of our property presenters. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty either. And I admit to having a bit of dust in my eye when one of the brothers got upset about sacking one of their team!

My Dream House is a canny little programme, though like other similar shows it seems to have a house style. In this case hardwood floors throughout the building, and a large kitchen with a huge island and offset table and chairs. It looks well done but it’s starting to be a bit generic. Sort of the magnolia walls and beige carpets of the 21st century.

From watching buying and selling property in the states seems more diverse than over here. A massive range of prices as well which i guess is down to location, same as here.
I used to watch Holmes on homes but no longer have the channel that shows it. I like property renovation tv shows and the property brothers is currently my favourite.
So what brings you onto a Sunderland message board? Originally from here, family from here or because of the Americans we've had playing for us in the past? There's quite a few states dwellers post on here.

Born in Easington, lived in Roker before heading out to the wastelands of Fencehouses. Been out here now since 2001 (bar a couple of years fixing visa issues). Been a member on here since 2002, which makes the SMB one of my longest relationships.

Ranges are crazy here, my town that I live in has an average price point of just over a million dollars, drive less than 5 minutes down the road and you can pick up something on average for around $350k, ten minutes further down the road and you can pick up homes for under $150k. Most of the business I do tends to be in the $500k region, but I do get some big houses from time to time. Love what I do out here I have to be honest. Its crap in the winter when nobody is buying, but when I am busy its a unreal.

The amount of investor homes I see where they have thrown up the same kitchen cabinets, the same tile backsplash and flooring is unreal. Its like they use one designer between all of them. Used to love a monochromatic kitchen with an open floor plan, now I hate it. Still, its better than looking at resumes all day.

One thing I've always wondered about houses that size, when do you get privacy? Assume you must need a fair few staff who will live there or at least work full time. I'd never be able to settle.

Privacy?? I was womdering the opposite. You probably could go for days without seeing anybody in your own family. Its like a hotel its that big.

I liked the jacuzzi on the balcony though.

Also it must weigh millions of tonnes with all that marble and shite in there so hope the land is decent round there

Weve just finished doing this one up. Lovely Victorian terrace.

It’s looks good but it could do with better lighting in the kitchen. You would spend most of your time working in your own light. It looks dark to start with because of the small window and the dark units don’t help. It needs either under unit lighting or a tube lighting to give a more even light. Possibly even a shadow strip round th3 ceiling with lights behind to brighten it up.
