right or wrong

i mean abit shady leaving fook all to ya mrs and daughterts, but surely if that was his dying wish (will) a court should not be allowed to overrule that, maybe his wife and daughter's were lazy shitehawks who knows but a court shouldn't be allowed to overrule a will

I'm not comfortable with the courts going against someone's wishes in a will without a good reason, what if he hated her guts and made his life a misery for 66 years ?

Although it is not fair on the wife & daughters, in my mind, a will is a will, and should not be subject to legal intervention, unless there is absolute proof that the dead person was not of sound mind at the time.

A dangerous precedence being set imo.

What's the point of having a will then of people can just challenge it on court and get it ignored.

He left it to his son so his son should get it.

Your money your choice as far as I'm concerned.
Who knows why he did it, Maybe the wife had a dodgy history or had treated him badly, who knows.
It's a dodgy practice, you'd expect all of the husbands assets to move to the wife on his death and the kids to get an equal share on her death, but there you go.
You can appeal a will if you haven't been adequately provided for under law, so it's likely that is what happened here.

I am absolutely sure (not really but here's my two penneth worth) that the old fella was a misogynistic sod who had lived all his life thinking women were just there to look after him, cook and clean and probs rub his feet when they were a bit sore. The woman bore him 6 children for goodness sake tho he didn't seem that bothered about the girsl cos he didn't leave them anything either. Looks as tho his sons take after him too otherwise why would the poor woman and her daughters have to resort to the courts.

Likely this. But at the same time, a will is a will and I don’t quite like the idea of courts changing it

People can't just challenge it really only a spouse and children. Which isn't ideal if the spouse and children are a bunch of cads, bounders, blaggards and rotters, but what if it's just a spiteful old man with antiquated ideas of passing his wealth only down the male line.

I get what you are saying and it’s shite that this has likely happened. But should someone else be dictating where your money goes (even though your dead)

It's only paper. He's dead now and doesn't care.

If he was a misogynistic old twat then at least the lasses get a share.
If the lasses were all little kernts then shit happens.

Either way...
