Bit of an acid test for Bruce?

Do we show them any respect? You know what I mean

"David Moyes is no mug,
DM is a good manager
DMs sides are always dangerous when yer least expect them etc"

and all the other shit that fellow managers spout...

away P 6 W1 D3 L2 5F 5A

what side are we expectin to put out if all fit?

if Bents fit he has to start.. it's going to be a rotten job dropping Welbeck

Can't wait for the game to be honest.

I disagree. Ease Bent back in - don't want him injuring himself again before he is fully fit. Will do him some good being on the bench for a game ;)

I don't think you should drop a striker who played so well in the last match and scored.

Bent carried us at times last season, scored 25 goals, our best striker since Phillips - and you want a flash in the pan loanee to take his starting spot? mental..

Dont get me wrong, Welbeck was oustanding sunday gone - but lets not forget... he's no Darren Bent.

Bent has got to start for me.
This game is very important , we need to maintain the feel good factor both in the side and in the support .
We seldom string two wins together in the premiership , time to set that right is now!!

We all know that Bent will walk back into the team, but he has been out for a couple of weeks, he was misfiring before he was out, and it would be silly to rush him back. A game on the bench is exactly what he needs, coming on with twenty or so to go. You might remember us actually playing quite well without him for a couple of games. Wellbeck was named man of the match he shouldn't - and won't be dropped - moved to the midfield maybe to accommodate him, but I think most teams who had beaten Chelsea 3-0 would be likely to field an unchanged team, or it makes a mockery of performing well in a match in order to cement your place in the team.

Rest Bent for a week while he gets his sharpness back

Thanks for reminding me who Darren Bent is though

We should be beating most team at home. Everton have a slightly better team than us, but the stadium of light is a fortress, so we should comfortably beat them.

2-0 Bent and Gyan with a goal each.

Look, if Bent isn't ready then fair enough - stick him on the bench or leave him out. Other then that, Bent simply has to start based purly on how important he is to SAFC in the long run. Welbeck wont be here next season, and has done nothing of note this season, Chelsea aside.

and misfiring? aye.. you're right, he hasn't scored for 3 games now :lol:

Not scored for three games and a couple have been pens this year? Personally I don't think that Bent would want to, or feel he should walk straight back into the team. It's also not a foregone conclusion that Wellbeck won't sign at the end of the year - Bruce talking about it after the match against Chelsea.

Just because Bent is important for SAFC in the long run doesn't mean he has to start against Everton! Everyone wants to see Bent in the team - of course they do, but he's been injured, why not ease him back in at the perfect time when we have two other players brim full of confidence after a great performance?

How many times do players injure themselves after coming back too soon from Groin strains? Happens all the time.

Think I'd probably start with the team that beat Chelsea, bring Benty on in the 2nd half, as for the result, Everton are a good squad, and aren't going to be the pushover some of you lot seem to think and Tim Cahill has a habit of scoring against us, saying that I think we will win, but it's going to be a 2-1 or a 1-0 with very little difference in it.

Agreed. He had a canny game but he fluffed every chance bar the open goal.

Absolutely spot on. Danny Wellbeck did get my MoM Sunday, but I'd still rather watch the Bent-Gyan partnership blossom than Bruce not wanting to hurt Welbz's confidence

An unchanged side from the Chelsea game.

My heart says 2-1 win.

My head says 1-1 draw.

This. With Cahill getting the obligatory goal .

In recent years Everton have been a team that we have struggled to get anything from. 3 points here will be a sure sign for me that we are on the up.

Remind me how many times Welbeck has started up front, as opposed to wing/midfield?
