To be fair it's not really relevant.......we utilised Colback at RB against just about the best left sided PL combination in Baines and Pienaar and he was MOTM. Whoever plays there could just as easily get ripped a new arsehole by some spotty faced kid lining up for Palace. What's of more concern is who plays there on a long term basis.... along with LB and creative CM it's something the club seems totally incapable of solving.

That's true if you believe the club are willing to invest in these areas......i'm really not sure and think we will need departures before anyone else comes in. Hopefully i'm just being a cynical old git....;)

Can I just say in the current climate, that here is an example of someone with concerns/a potentially negative or pessimistic viewpoint but actually makes their case. I hope you're not getting many people mistaking you for a WUM or bedwetter, it can happen when there's so much tripe on the boards.

Fwiw I think we will get full backs in but we might be getting near the window deadline to get them. A lot of clubs seem to be talking more than doing at the moment and maybe one of the big moves needs to happen and have a bit of a knock on effect on everyone else.

I'm hopeful anyway.

Cautiously hopeful.

(Haway Bobby Fanta get it bloody sorted man...!)

Now it looks like is going to be an exciting end of the transfer market. I feel like management is going to wait till the last days to finalize the deals for FB and CM. It's a bit of a pity since I would have liked to have the whole squad together for quite a lot, to build fitness and team identity. But it is what it is. It's always like this in august.. a waiting game, trying to make great deals in the end, when teams have to get rid of certain players.

I'm not worried at the prospect of Colback and Gardner as full backs until we sign the right players. Last season they both played in these positions for a number of matches and I don't really remember them looking out of place. In fact defence wasn't really our problem last season. Scoring enough goals was our problem. A new coach, a new philosophy and a season further on and I expect them both to be better suited to the roles this season.

A bigger crime would be to just sign a foreign name and throw him straight into the Premier League before they understand the Di Canio philosophy.

I don't think either player is good enough to get into Man U or Man C but they are well capable of playing for a mid-table side without letting anyone down.

Completely disagree mate. Full backs are crucial in the game now and you can't go into a season with 2 centre mids as your full back options. I've got less concerns about Colback because he's faster but Gardner

His pace is scary and when he gets the ball it just goes hoof. Not to mention he just blasts the ball at goal from miles out losing us possession and can't actually pass the ball
