No, I do. But everyone in the last few games has done too much of a job in their position to merit Malbranque coming in over them (same with Elmo), with the exception of Henderson but he is an ever present of now it seems.

Our best midfield is Zenden, Catts, Malbranque and Zenden, in some order or another, in my opinion.

Would that be Zenden's older brother or his younger brother:-D

We'd be killed away from home with a four-man midfield that has Malbranque in the centre. We'd be f***ing butchered.

Richardson frustrates the hell out of me.

He's got ability and speed but so often loses possession, gives away silly free kicks, moans at the ref. gets booked too many times, manages to stray offside far too often for a player who isn't a striker and generally looks lost in midfield.

Not sure if he can make it as a full back but at least it makes the game easier for him..straight up and down where his pace is an asset. But if he is played or drifts into central midfield he's overwhelmed and over run.

Is two/three too many stepovers and tricks away from being a capable LW/CAM. If he kept it simple tonight there would have been a few one on ones/more dangerous balls I feel. He looked handy at LB but Bardo has been excellent there, so what do people reckon to him have the LW berth for a bit?

Especially without Gyan, we need someone up there quick with Bent besides another striker as when Dazza gets the ball he slows everything down unless he's facing goalwards. He needs time off the ball to make his runs, and get in finishing positions, and Rico could allow this on the counter.

I just don't rate the lad, and certainly not as a LB.

Tbf, he was excellent against Chelski in blocking out Cole's runs, but I just think we have better players in all of the positions he fills in to (LB excepting!)

And his shooting is woeful (although he's not alone there:cry:)

For me he's the best left back we have.

Is better defensively than people give him credit for and he gives us the balance we need when on the attack especially if we play Malbranque on the left.

agree with all of this post. saved me the effort of typing something similar. cheers mate.

same here - thanks for typing that to save me the hassle of typing what you did to thank him for typing that which is more or less what I think, thereby saving me the effort of having to type either what he did or what you did, which has been a great help, because lets face it - no-one likes to have to type what they don't have to type if they can just agree with someone else's typing. Cheers mate.

Agreed

I would have gladly seen the back of him last year as he has too many faults to be a permanent fixture in midfield. However I think hes come on tremendously at left back and is miles better defensively than I thought he would be. Good player to have around - primarily as a left back and occasionally in midfield.

Aye, he's a sound left-back. At least this CB injury crisis gives us a chance to see him, Bardsley and Onouha all move to their best positions. In theory, they should all perform even better

How? (genuine question) assuming Rico's left back

Midfield of Zenden - Catts - Hendo - Steed?
or
Wellbeck - Hendo - Catts - Zenden? (is Gyan fit to partner Bent?)

don't understand what you mean by How?

and I'd go with the 2nd one, but maybe give Elmo a run out and get him running at Wolves, they look shite defensively and he's quick/direct enough to cause them bother.

Wondering who you think would be his best partner, Steed, Welly or Zenden.

I'd be tempted to say Zenden

Don't like him in any position other than left back. Wastes possession to much in midfield and isn't good enough to play in that role behind the striker as was proven at Tottenham this season and Everton last. Had loads of chances to create something the other night but ran out of ideas. At least at left back he defends well and overlaps well. Bardsley is playing well at the moment but it's too diffucult to get to the byline when players play on their wrong side (except Zenden's run for Welbeck's first goal of course!)

He's fast but pretty rubbish - zero bloody composure - not a good enough midfielder

Left back or nowt IMHO (and Bardsley - although he cannot play football - has defended excellently there for the past few weeks and will be hard to shift)

Fuck off you negative tosser.
Support the team or fuck the hell off

He's improved this season and still is, when he can be bothered, one of the talented players in the team, but like many have said, he does think he has alot more talent than he actually has.

He offers pace in midfield and if allowed to get forward he will score the odd goal, he has done before, 5 goals under Sbragia playing cm most of the time, if he could get that this season it would be more than Henderson, Cattermole and Steed put together no doubt.:-(
