Striker
Is two/three too many stepovers and tricks away from being a capable LW/CAM. If he kept it simple tonight there would have been a few one on ones/more dangerous balls I feel. He looked handy at LB but Bardo has been excellent there, so what do people reckon to him have the LW berth for a bit?

Especially without Gyan, we need someone up there quick with Bent besides another striker as when Dazza gets the ball he slows everything down unless he's facing goalwards. He needs time off the ball to make his runs, and get in finishing positions, and Rico could allow this on the counter.

He's fast but pretty rubbish - zero bloody composure - not a good enough midfielder

Left back or nowt IMHO (and Bardsley - although he cannot play football - has defended excellently there for the past few weeks and will be hard to shift)

Impressed me first half, but very frustrating to watch second half with all his f***ing about.

Hes simply not as good as he thinks he is, or at least as he trys to be. He makes too many mistakes with the ball at his feet, not good enough to be a winger really

He's too keen to get into the middle to be a left winger. He left Bardsley on his own half the night.

Awareness - poor.

Needs things to be happening in front of him which is why left back wud probably suit him more.

We're trying to move on and that means Richardson should struggle to get a game in our midfield most games. Although he was used to great effect at Chelsea by Bruce mind

agree with all of this post. saved me the effort of typing something similar. cheers mate.

Got be be difficult for the lad when he is settling into left back then getting asked to play in midfield.

Done very well the past few weeks imo

For me long term he is either left back or not at all though

I think he might be back to left back in our next game, so Bardsley Onuoha Turner Richardson.

He's a very useful squad player to have. Can play fullback, midfield and support striker all to decent effect.

But is in danger of becoming a jack of all trades and master of none - now appears to be losing his left back slot to the Bard (although he offers substantially more going forward)

Frustrating type of player to have in the side really.
He really gets you excited when he picks up the ball and surges forward with real purpose but then you realise it's Rico and you know it will finish with no end product and a loss of possession, albeit forty yards further up the pitch.

he's neewhere near as bad as folk on here make him out to be. His tackle in the first half after tracking back (allowing bardsley to nip in and run off with the ball) was superb. He also produced the best cross of the game for Welbeck's 2nd, did he not?

aye - he should just take the tackle, set up the ruck ball, and let the forwards recycle the ball for the next phase

Bloody annoys me how often he makes a mess of promising situations

It's all gone a bit Pete Tong.

Bruce wanted him to be the LB - and that's got to be his best position. But because Bardsley has been playing stormers I think Bruce has been reluctant to change things - especially as Nedum just scored a 'worldy'...

But in reality, Bardsley should be RB and Richardson LB.
