Reytons

Not my cup of tea, they’re diabolical but fair play getting to number one without a record deal. How does that work?

i presume its easier these days when they can just upload it and dont have to get them physically printed.
Just the opposite. Release various different options on CD, vinyl and cassette which all count towards sales. Fans will order all the variants and bingo you have ten sales to one person all counting towards the chart position.

I meant without a record deal. Who pays to print all those variants if you don’t have a record company behind you. These days you just have to pay the studio to record it then publicity

The band paid for it all. They used the money that they received from a gig they played in their home neck of the woods (4,500 attended IIRC) to fund the album. They have promoted the album all over the shop this week culminating in a Facebook Live jobbie from the distribution centre in Burnley last night for the last hour when physical sales counted towards this weeks chart.
