Had a 32inch panasonic viera tv, after 4 and a half years the screen started to go funny. Because still had insurance cover rang the company that got it off, they came out took it away to check out.

Two days later get a phone call to say the insurance company has written it off and will be sending a letter with what they believe to be a decent offer for money off a new tv.

Got a letter from them the other day basically saying they will cover £435 of the cost of a brand new one. Went to the dealer on Thursday with the letter and they offered brand new 37" panasonic viera with free delivery and five year free cover and we only have to pay £160!

Nearly took his hand off with that offer. It came this morning bloody brilliant

Should have bought a Philips - they always break down after four and a half years - I haven't had to pay for a telly for 11 years

LG, Sharp, Wistron and Samsung manufacture 99% of LCD displays now iirc. They will be rebadged as whatever brand (Philips included). Having said that the other components will be specific to the brand.
