Remi Matthews

Relatively cheap, fills an English quota and will never play. Makes sense really. As baffling as it is.

will getting a shite third choice English keeper mean they can pump more exciting cheaper, foreign talent elsewhere in their squad? My football manager experience says aye

Looked a bag of nerves and nowhere near good enough for League One. Our players knew it too. State of him away at Shrewsbury.

I suspect he'll play the total sum of zero minutes for them in the next two seasons whilst earning probably £10K a week, can't blame him.

Can only wish Qwehttam the best. From what I heard, he was a vary positive and popular influence in the dressing room. Crystal Palace might not be a very very glam club to sign for, but I hope he does well for them.

Maybe he's just realised at 27 he's not going to have the career he wanted as a kid and a PL club will give him more money and maybe some coaching experience.

Hes made 136 appearances at 27, he's not been very good. He might only play games at Palace in an absolute emergency but I dont see how anyone can knock him for it. the alternative is what - fighting for a place in league one or 2 or even dropping out the leagues?

I think it's more the fact that Palace think he's worth a contract, even as third choice.

He's rubbish

Palace are one of my banker bets to go down this year.... It wasn't great for them last year with an aging squad , it will be even more so this time around.

£10k a week over three years and he’ll be more or less comfortable for the rest of his life.

Even at PAYE rates (which I suspect no professional pays) he’ll earn about £860k over the next three years, more or less £20k a year for the rest of his life whatever happens.

Most people are knocking palace, not him

Invest it sensibly and it could be even higher. The eighth wonder of the world

2 year contract & definitely not on £10k p/w.

He replaces Hennessey who was on £30k p/w to not play as 3rd choice keeper.
